Depends on who you ask, but I had hoped that Lowe (and Adam Seymore) would take back the offense. This certainly takes care of that!

Same here. I felt like JJ had a hard time adjusting his game plan when it didn’t work. Just kept pounding away at the same thing that wasn’t working (the deep ball for example). We’ve seen that several times the last couple seasons

No way powel can be happy about this right?

Au contraire. It's always a good thing when assistants in a program are sought after as head coaches elsewhere. Means things are going well.

And those who believe that Powell isn't going to continue at a very competitive level, you need to think again.

Have you heard anything on how the announcement will be.

Bearden stepping up if JJ is the one and signs pointing to him. Big hire if they wanted to turn things around to keep kids at Bearden and also potentially bring in kids that can help them elevate.

Well the so called step up will have to be proven on the football field. Will BHS get Baby Falcons, CAK, or the Powell flying circus. No HC experience at a 6A school is questionable at the least. Maybe there will be an assistant HC that knows the ropes that the principal has a relationship with or has confidence in. Bearden is a difficult place to reach those high expectations. Very high expectations but never doing what it takes to reach those expectations. Bearden parents/boosters that get involved in sports that don't get what they want out of a coach don't go to the principal that signed off on the HC hire, they go to central office to air their displeasures. Good luck to the new staff, they will need it.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
