I could see that as well.

That's what i was thinking. Both are good options. There's a lot at stake when they've already had Ligma apply and Blade might go to the college ranks and coach at Bofa. Nov things happening around the Indy program.

It is kind of wild the year he resigns at Indy, that Gaddis is retiring. Funny timing. I still bet you Blade is ready to step away from coaching and pursue other interests though.

This is a really good job in a really good location that will have some attractive applicants. I’m really interested to see what direction they go.

Anyone here care to share who Ligma is? Not familiar with that name.

He's from some where south of this area. I've heard his name mentioned for other jobs in the past just amongst people in the know. He's done a good job with the defenses at the schools he's been with in the past. I heard he's tired of working with the current principal he's with. I was told he was a real hard one to work with. Ligma likes to have two well-rounded individuals he trusts in any job he interviews for.

Unfortunately most principals today are academic people that feel as if athletics and other after school activities are nothing more than a burden that they must deal with.  The days of a former coach becoming  a principal are over. If someone has a principal that supports the coaching staff and wants to win they are very fortunate.  Most principals today want to leave the building thirty minutes after school is dismissed.

Dr. Patton at Indy is a GREAT Principal that supports both academics and athletics

Thanks for the reply. That’s interesting. He sounds like a good candidate, and I’m sure he’d be a great fit at Indy then. I imagine with their next head coach, they want someone who will help get them back to being competitive in that region and be a winner. They’ll be ready to what they need to assist with that.

Heard he’s going to the college ranks. University of Bofa I believe. OC I would assume.

    • Checked the transfer portal this morning and noticed a starting lineman from another school has moved here. Must of not wanted to learn the fine arts of holding and came to Maryville instead. Can't hide that stuff when your playing on Thursday Night TV and they show the replays.
    • Who you got? South Side host South Gibson in first district game - I have South Side but closer than many think Covington host Haywood - I got Covington at home - their pressure may be too much for Haywood Humboldt host Peabody - I have Peabody in this one by alot
    • That is why I use the word if my friend! And the only reason I made comment is because I've had texts and calls asking me if they thought he would be interested in the job.
    • This year's sophomore class is pretty solid, too.  And I don't think that just because JJ isn't at Powell any longer that those who have chosen to go to Powell will suddenly go to Bearden.  Powell's coaching staff reputation is solid for being "players coaches" with or without JJ.   Bearden is my alma mater and I still pull for them and want this experiment to be successful.   That said, there is a lot of difference culturally between Bearden and Powell.  JJ at Bearden or no, it's not a slam dunk that kids requesting transfers will want to go there.   Plus anybody transferring without physically moving in to the zone wouldn't be eligible in 2022.
