I think the Tomcats will be just fine The secondary most likely won't see another SEC caliber quarterback,

Lol, he is pretty good. But I agree about y'all won't face a QB that can throw like Damron can. So, with that I think y'all will be perfectly fine. If those secondary players get better as the season goes on, y'all will be dangerous come playoff time. (Which y'all will be anyways)

I thought offensively our o line didn’t play very good. Our qb,rb #25,wr#3 played good and I expect big things from them this year. I would like to see #15 on offense more often. Have him lined up opposite #3 will be tough for opposing teams to stop. Defensively, we looked pretty good up front. Our secondary has some work to do, didn’t look very good back there. I also thought it was apparent we hadn’t had many scrimmages and Henry County looked like they had. I think we will be fine, Henry County is a very good team, their qb was dropping some dimes. I wish we had them on our schedule. Playing  teams like that is what helps us come playoff time, not oakhaven and lake county. No disrespect to either of those programs

Though lake county is a 1A school they are consistently in the Qtrs and semis. Some of the Oline has been moved around. They’ll be fine. Lack of scrimmages def played a factor. Secondary was thinking too much last night

After watching the video, we got off to kind of a slow start, but picked it up later in the second quarter. In a real game, we would probably see a little more activity from Cordero running the ball at quarterback and a little more of the muddle and sweep game which make us so effective. Offensively, we are going to put up a lot of points. Kevion Davis (15) is in his first year and believe me he will be a factor at receiver, but he is an animal on defense. He will be there when the time comes. Defensively, our front seven played solid. The secondary will be fine. Like I said, most teams don't have a qb like Damron,  a four year starter. Also, in case you didn't notice, HC has added a few players on both sides of the ball. In a four quarter game midseason, with our return game etc., I believe it would be a tossup. I believe Coach Smith saw what he needed to see. Our schedule is not for a lack of trying. That has been rehashed many times. And yes, scrimmages are hard to come by. You couldn't hold a gun to most coaches in Memphis and West Tennessee to schedule the Tomcats if they didn't have to.

I agree with everything said here. I am looking for a big season from the Tomcats

We did miss one TD last night too. Jayce Kendall was wide open and it looked like it was overthrown. So with our missed opportunity and yalls fumble in our territory it's still about the same. Either way two good teams. Both should at the very minimum be in the state semifinals with an opportunity to go play for a title.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
