You all are having a good season Harley. If it wasn't for that Alcoa barrier you might could make some noise in 3A this year.

A really good team in a horrible situation, I'm fairy sure they'll win until they run into Alcoa, don't think CD or Unicoi can beat um.

Michael is turning into quite the coach.  Lunsford philosophy is you always give the bigs the most attention in practice.  It's a system that makes Hampton competitive every year.  If you go into the halls and find some big boys and you give those big boys the motivation to do something with themselves then you can field a competitive team every year.  Hampton is like anywhere else, they will run short on skill players but they don't ever run out of linemen.  I tell people at Cloudland that you never want to depend on Hampton being down.  You have to work to match a successful program.  It's not going to be in the near future but down the road our rivalry will get hot again.  We won't find a better care taker than zac.  He's involved all the way down to kindergarten

And you gotta love it! What Zac is doing with those kids all the way down to kindergarten, they wont forget it, and the parents wont forget it neither. Thats the type of coach that draws kids to play for them, not transfer to another school. Lunsford is the same way.

I see carter county football coming back to the way it was back in 2016 and before. With MOST carter county teams giving each other the best competition they will see.

Zac will for sure give it his ALL, boy has heart and passion that most never have, he also knows football. Just hope people don't turn on him.

What people don't understand is we are too small of a school and in a location where we are just not going to be a powerhouse every year.  Every group that comes through have different parents and those parents might be raising their boys different.  Alot comes into play when you're fielding a team at the 1a level

Parents make a big difference in any program. Ive seen many hampton programs have all the talent in the world, but what went on when the kids were off of the field is what made the difference. And what was allowed in the homes of the kids as well… it can make or break a program.

I've always said parents should get a championship ring too.  They volunteer their time in the youth clubs.  They are the ones who either send a brat or a respectful kid to the coach.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
