Or is the school allowed to use theirs the same way they would if it was a camp the actual team was putting on? Just too many questions left unanswered. From the early stages though it has looked like schools are being diligent in asking for clarification before they proceed with anything

That's where the parents/handlers are going to have to get involved, and not necessarily for the better.  That will be the justification for their being involved and an entry for taking advantage of the situation.

This is the same point that I've been making. Assuming that most high schoolers are minors, the NIL deals themselves would have to be sanctioned by a guardian (minors not allowed to enter into a binding contract). This alone will open the floodgates for recruitment... not only will "players" profit from NIL, but side deals, job offers, and even cash transactions will not be discoverable when handled "in the student's best interest" by their guardian.

I'm not a get off my lawn old man guy and I understand times they are a changin'. But I think many would agree that this is not a good idea and possibly opens up high school sports to all kinds of shady dealings including pay per play.  Can somebody answer me this; Why are we doing this?  Is it because somebody is afraid to get sued?  And on what basis? Who thought this was a good idea and good for high school sports?  I just don't get NIL for HS at all.  Somebody please help me understand the "why".

Cat, I assume that one reason was to prevent TN from getting "left behind." With over half of the states already approving some version of NIL legislation for prep athletes, the future Walter Nolen's of the world would likely never move to TN to play high school football. I'm not saying that's a good reason to do this, but I think that's one of the explanations for why we jumped on board.

Because the courts ruled the college players are able to profit off their NIL it set a precedent for high school also. Many athletic associations have been sued over NIL for high school athletes.

Sued on what basis?  Minors cannot even enter into a legally binding contract.

I wonder the age of the guys who have accepted deals since a lot of kids are held back; another practice I don’t agree with.

Florida students are suing their Athletic Association for conspiring with NFHS to prevent NIL. I typed in NIL, High School, and Sue and there are articles about litigation from around the country.
