The TSSAA should have allowed WB to drop down to 5A but didn't because they actually believe their fairey tale about enrollment creates all school equal. That kind of thinking is what destroies some programs from ever being brought back from the dead.

Don't think WB would have fared much better in 4A or 5A, maybe they make the playoffs but not much farther. Helicopter parents, lack of feeder system and no support from administration has killed more programs than enrollment numbers ever will

AP isn't exactly accurate on that, if that's what he said.

One has to request a transfer, not just "declare" what school they want to get an out of zone transfer to and it has to be approved by Knox County.  But there are several legit transfers, including a minority to majority transfer, which was initiated by Knox County to satisfy the Office of Civil Rights some time back to prevent bussing similar to what Hamilton County does.

And there are other legit reasons for transfer approval for all students, including, but not limited to the magnet programs that some schools offer.

And that's Knox County.

The TSSAA deems students eligible as long as they start their freshman year at a particular high school, no matter where they live and if they comply with the living with parent/legal guardian provision.

So there are really two different levels here - County, and TSSAA.

Declare/request.  If a kid from AE wants to play FB for Farragut, he can. That's all AP meant.

But if a kid from Karns wants to attend Farragut or Bearden and he's not a minority, he has to apply for a transfer and it may or may not be approved.

There are qualifying rules.  It's not automatic.

The former Greenback coach is one of a long list of candidates that have applied for this job. Several current sitting head coaches in the greater Knoxville area have applied. One in the Gatlinburg area is interested as well. Several current assistants from the area have applied to, but my sources say it will be someone that has been a head coach before or is a current head coach. Eagleton is ready to win very soon. This will be a good job. I am Captain Guru and I approve this message.
