The sad thing about Kumaro Brown is that you put him on McKenzie's team, he'll win the award. If you put him on Moore County or Bruceton, he'll win the award.

Kumaro Brown probably should've won the award last year. 1,000 yards rushing and only 70 carries for MASE in 14 games (I don't know if that 1,000 yards rushing with 70 carries is a regular season stat or not). When Kumaro Brown has the football, he will probably be the best player on the field. And he also an effective two way player.

Kumaro Brown is in a lose/lose situation here. If he can't pad his stats because MASE is up 35-0 in basically every game they had last year (other than McKenzie) so he would ended up being taken out of the game and mercy rule is in effect. He doesn't really need the ball for MASE to be successful as other players are from other schools. But if he does do really well stat wise, then he and MASE would be heavily criticized because they played a fairly light schedule.

Lausanne, St. George, and Peabody would be 3 of the MASE non-region opponents (see what happens when Coach Miller now has the opportunity to create his own schedule?)

Lausanne had two losses last year to CPA and Bartlett (two teams that played past Thanksgiving), St. George is a D2-AA private school team that will play in a competitive class. Peabody was eliminated by MASE last year in the playoffs. I don't know what the Tide has returning, but I know Jacobs will have them prepared this fall. So Miller has answered the scheduling aspect of things, he did what he can do.

I don't believe he only had 70 carries. He probably had close to 30 against LC so don't buy that against other teams

He's phenomenal  though.

Tate Surber for McKenzie is going to have a huge season.  I’m not saying he wins it this year but he may be the preseason favorite for the 2024 season.

If you'll read the first part of this thread, I stated that Moore County's #6 Dawson White would be a frontrunner, with McKenzie's #14 Tate Surber being in the hunt as well!

Dawson White is unreal!  He is atleast going to be final 3.  If he isn't, people aren't paying attention.  Moore County is going to be tough this year!

Agreed 100%! I was on the sideline on last years contest. He's average in size but he's a workhorse, & a talented athlete!

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
