5A Region 7

After six weeks some things are starting to sort out.

Henry County
Beech
Hendersonville
Springfield
Portland
Hunters Lane

It appears Henry County is the favorite to win the region. They have some good wins and a close loss to what appears to be a really good Brentwood team.

Beech finally scored some points last night at Hendersonville, but I’m still not convinced the offense will show up every week. If the can score 30 points, I don’t think the lose many games. The defense is solid and will give them an opportunity to win if the offense can score some points.

Hendersonville should finish third in the region and with Baker healthy they are a play away from scoring at any time. The defense isn’t the best, but they can score in bunches so they should win three of their last four.

Springfield seems to be getting better, but that could also be a product of who they’ve played. Next week should tell more.

Portland and Hunters Lane just aren’t very good.

Summed up very well.  Agree!

My legit opinion.
Beech should get the 2 slot.
if y’all beat HC you deserve it. For 1

HHS got the chips stacked against them. And only we can get out of it.

but tie breaks will be in beech’s favor.

Even if HC beats Beech And then HHS beats HC I think it’s (hoping hhs can show up at Springfield and squeeze a W)

1HC

2Bhs

3HHS

So now HHS has to win this week vs Springfield  then win vs Portland

my math is not the best but if those two things happen is almost makes HC game a wash cause win or lose HHS is 3 if HC beats beech

and I’m not one to root for BHS beating HC

but it’s high school  who knows  Springfield is ready to shock the region this Friday vs HHS at home they are hungry

Hope we come to eat

I think Springfield has a team that could upset Hville, based on how they’ve both played lately… Springfield progressing, Hville regressing.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
