Any given Friday night someone can go down. I know that a little single A school seems to be no competition to the private schools and the special privileges they get from TSSAA but you will know when you meet these Tornadoes. One thing my boys have is a ton of heart and confidence and that cannot be bought.

More power to ya, but let's not act like kids from private schools don't have any "heart and confidence". They're gonna play just as hard as UC does with more talent. If I'm wrong I'll gladly show up to eat Mt crow. Kudos to your program for scheduling up

We always schedule up and it’s nothing against your kids. Look forward to a hard hitting injury free game. Oh and more talent? We shall see.

I'm not affiliated with Ensworth. Ensworth has at least 3 kids I know of with P5 offers, UC has none

Ok but that doesn’t mean the talent isn’t there and doesn’t mean that everyone’s offers have been told. But good luck to you and whomever your team is. If it’s Ensworth good luck after 1st week.

he's an oakland fan and knows a bit about football.  glad you are excited about your team.  he's just trying to be realistic.

I feel pretty confident in saying they're not beating Ensworth

Fair enough. I guess we will find out in a few weeks. I hope Ensworth has a some dudes up front that can handle the pressure they are going to get from UC. I feel pretty confident they are going to beat Ensworth.

maybe you guys know more than i do.  can you guys educate me on union county and why a team in the lowest classification is going to beat a team in the highest?  thanks!

I can't really debate whether Union City will win or not because I don't know anything about Ensworth. I would assume, since Ensworth is D-ll AAA, that they have more of a passing game than running game, correct? That is the only thing that will hurt UC. They are pretty big up front, on both sides of the ball. Most people will be surprised how well they will play them. With that being said, I'll probably go with Ensworth in this one just because of depth and they'll probably have a size advantage.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
