I like how Riverside beat the Mustangs in the playoffs last year and all of a sudden this is a "rivalry."

No disrespect Panthers, but I don't think many Huntingdon fans consider this a "Rivalry" yet. Milan, obviously. McKenzie, for sure. Camden even, yeah probably. Still seems way too one-sided to be considered a true rivalry yet, imo.

Where has anyone called this a rivalry?

My 2 cents, for what its worth!

Huntingdon/ Riverside is not a rivalry, however .. in Riverside's eyes this is the team they love to hate and have the upmost respect for. Huntingdon also respects Riverside immensely.

I have several close friends that live in Parsons, and they have kids who are starters on this team. They do not think they are going to run all over us, they do not think they are better than us at all. Riverside is well-aware that the record books are one-sided.

They are also aware that both teams are very good right now. This game is going to have a Playoff type atmosphere. Region championship could very well be on the line for this game. I for one am glad that this game is in Huntingdon.

If Huntingdon wins, it pretty much solidifies them as region champions which will mean we host all 4 rounds of the playoffs if we are able to advance that far. If Riverside wins, it will come down to there game with Milan. So again, huge game for both teams here!

Riverside is currently ranked #1 in state, Huntingdon is ranked #5.. but rankings dont mean anything! The game is played on the field not the newspapers.

I honestly feel as if Huntingdon's and Parson's rushing attack will eat up both teams defense. which team eliminates the turnovers? that could be the difference! Can Huntingdon continue to make its extra points? That could be the difference in this ball game as well!.

My prediction....

Huntingdon - 34

Riverside - 28

I agree with much of what you said. Great post. Just want to point out one thing. If Huntingdung wins the region championship they are not guaranteed the first 4 reds at home. This year the upper portion of the bracket hosts in the 3rd and 4th rd. So if you meet the region 5 1 seed in the 3rd round you will have to go to them. Win that one and you get the semis at home.

I’m thinking it will be a low scoring game like 21-14 type. I don’t think you could go wrong picking either team to win but my gut is telling Riverside will win that’s why I’m picking Huntingdon by 7

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
