Take the top two region winners and Bring back the bowls games for those 3 and 4 seeds not in the playoffs. 

The three and four seeds are mostly only playing one more game. It would make for more competitive and entertaining games for that one game that they play.  It would give them something to play and practicefor

I'm sure #8 is in there at times to help younger ones get lined up properly. 

Wholesale changes aren't made until coach decides so.

So just make the playoffs 16 teams? Start them in the quarterfinals? That would be a quick season.

Correct. Subs come in with experience still on the field. They help the younger guys along that don't see much action.
