If they are smart, they will open it up and have a search. See what interest there is out there and not just hire from within.

I think Internal helps for next year. ground work has been laid.

A couple of ways to look at it:  1.  You look at outside parties if you feel there are not a qualified candidate(s) within your own building.  Ex:  Brentwood Academy, LA & Ensworth all made hires outside their building because they obviously felt they did not have candidate(s) that met their ideal qualifications.    2.  You hire within when you have a qualified candidate(s) that offers unquestioned abilities and a proven track record and you want a smooth transition and possibly keep the current staff on board because of their abilities as well.  Ex:  McCallie hired within because they wanted a smooth transition and Bradford was more than qualified.  It is sometimes easier for Administrators to hire within when the team(s) have a history of success.

This is a good way to look at it.  DCA certainly has a good internal option if needed.  I would think they at least take a look outside, knowing there was a good option on campus, even if it's just short term stop-gap.

Very interesting way to look at it. So, since the end of the season in Nashville, you have BA, BGA, DCA, Ensworth, Goodpasture, and Lipscomb making changes. No one promoted anyone from their Fall 2023 staffs (yet). Teddy Bridgewater will be available after the NFL season presumably  https://sports.yahoo.com/teddy-bridgewater-plans-retire-2023-201653900.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJk6az7ref5-O3-cAJK_SSTSHc-cgYK78z_Zs93i4LvngGEutiCnHj_TUmAUVvUmsCG-jiw0LYOAcngek0TNy1HHHwNlP5pdLW1hbLzxJpRqMtQ7-teltU9SMxxiLLzZOqesmfeb9Ws1krHaMkk3l3uTbLhjssXLxk3cKdnapf-5#:~:text=It's always nice to see,Teddy Bridgewater intends to do.

How many coaches you think will apply for a job that this past season had 24 players and 1 was a kicker and at least 6 9th graders that were not even close to being ready to play? It is a good job with great kids. I am not sure that alone will attract many coaches.

    • That was after the 2nd year of a 4 year cycle.  Since Covid we have been on a 2 year cycle.  So, there really isn't a "mid cycle" reclassification this time.   Idk if there's anything in place to address the issue of a school closing.  My guess is, nothing can be done.  This would be akin to the 1st year of a 4 year cycle, where a school has the 20% +/- but not allowed or even have the option to move up or down.
    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
