Oh I agree with you, Red. I believe the next HC has to be ready to defend against the poachers while also doing some recruiting of his own. That’s the name of the game now a days right? Recruit your own schools halls and recruit other schools Rec league teams. My point was more of the solid pool of athletes mixed with some pretty good resources is already here.

I usually stay out of 6A talk but I am wondering if there is any hope for either of these programs. HVA is in the middle of a fiasco. Though, it has nothing to do with football. Mo East has been down for a while and being 6A is doing them no favors. Is there any hope for either school and which school has more to look forward to?

If Bearden and Farragut can be competitive in football, there is no reason why HVA can't be.  Bearden and Farragut deal with the same issues that HVA does in terms of private schools getting some of their zoned students and other sports coaches frowning on "their' kids playing football.

No excuses for HVA.  That's just a cesspool right now.  And fortunately for the students in that school, some needed changes are coming if rumors are accurate.

HVA may have a tough time doing interviews for the open head football job with the AD on Admin leave. Whole school and athletic program is suffering right now

The only reason I didn't pick HVA as the 6A Dumpster Fire award was simply due to Jeff Miner who is a good defensive coach and I can't blame him for stepping down. Who would want their image tarnished over that place. They had inproved his second year but now I can say for sure HVA is the biggest Dumpster Fire in East Tennessee 6A.

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
