New High School in Maury County in 2024

It looks like they will catch a break and not have to play a varsity schedule in the first year. I remember when Summit opened with just freshmen and sophomores they were at the start of the two year cycle. They were put in the district with Giles County, Lewis County, etc. It was brutal. IIRC Independence opened in the middle of the cycle and got to ease into football with a JV schedule only the first year.

This will also affect Spring Hill HS in two years sending them back down to 4A or maybe even 3A for a bit. The re-zoning for BCHS is going to take a big bite out of their population.

If they go to the four year cycle I don't think it harms them. In a two year cycle they'd play one year of JV only and then move to a varsity schedule with juniors and sophomores. Next year is year two of the current cycle. BC would just need to find some schools willing to add an extra JV game on to the schedule. This is what happened to Independence. I think Ravenwood as well. So it would be no different whether it's a two or four year cycle. They will be playing a full varsity schedule in their second year regardless.

Honestly think new schools should be ineligible from scheduling Varsity competition until they have all 4 grades. Unless it's a situation like LC where the whole county board is all in on seeing them succeed,  first 2 years are gonna be rough

    • Father Ryan was also on Baylors schedule on TSSAA and that is sent to TSSAA by the coaches, so I have no dog in this fight but Bob seems to be wrong a lot!
    • Been seeing some videos that show Celina Bulldog's throwing elbows!! Is it dirty play?? From the 2 videos I have seen it's dirty play my opinion!! Since it's Highschool the Coach should be talking to his players about it!! It's his job to control his players and to keep the dirty play for the play grounds! Celina has for the last few years had some really good ballplayers and have done very well in state playoffs! But control the dirty play and keep you reputation good and clean Coach!!!
    • It's funny how many on here seem to think they know exactly what goes on. For clarity.... Villers was the last to join us at McCallie. I called him and told him we weren't moving to California and that we were going to put Cooper in at McCallie. Jason didn't recruit anyone. Lane was already coming and I called Chris Williams. We filled out our forms THEN were contacted by the administration/coaches....legally. Not sure that is always the case at other schools but whatever. Also, Jed is a baseball player that happened to have wrestled as a kid at LevelUp but had quit for a few years. He didn't even want to wrestle but you have to play a sport or club at McCallie. He was not "recruited".  Dylan was at Fargo and will be again. I'm certain Axel and Jaxon and maybe a few others will be as well this year. There was also large group of us that was at Super32 this fall And come on man, Ryan was on the schedule. If they weren't, then why did they have to call and say...we aren't coming? HA. They may not have been on the schedule that you were sent over but they were in fact, scheduled. You don't cancel something that wasn't there to begin with.  And since we don't know who you are, we can at least surmise that you are over the age of 45 with your Otis Campbell reference. That's a start
    • The school closed back in the summer. I imagine the kids from their sports teams play wherever they ended up. I know one is at South Side.
    • Glad you did one research and proved me right  might find out I am right on a lot of other things! Better research a lot more!! I am done stating facts and debating someone with the mentality of Kamala and her lies and deceit !! Bad thing is, she believed her words too!!
