Because it needs to be centrally located. Otherwise have it in Bristol then the west teams can travel 6 hours instead of 3. Makes just as much sense as what you said.

Context.

The original post was suggesting the notion of moving state to Cookeville, thus my comment about how if a conversation is going to happen then the west should be an option as well.

Cookeville/Tenn Tech is centrally located with a great venue and a safe place to bring the family.  However I do see your point about rotating venues.

No offense, but Memphis is not a safe place to walk down the sidewalk let alone host a state tournament over 3 days.

I've lived in Memphis since 2015 and I've never had an issue. I coach and run a side business and I've been to just about every neighborhood in Memphis, the suburbs, and North Mississippi. Living and working here 365 puts me at much higher risk than visiting for 3 days. I've never had an issue or been put in danger.

Don't let your fear, stupidity, and ego get the best of you. It would be fine to have it here every 3 years. People will make excuses for everything.

MTSU's gym is terrible. East TN is too far from West TN. Memphis is too dangerous. The air is too cold. It's too hot in the gym. The bathroom didn't have soft toilet paper. The hot dogs weren't long enough. The popcorn had too many kernels. Some old lady looked at me funny.

I’ll just use the statistics that came out on February 7th 2024

Bbq is the best hands down.  Sometimes I think my posts come off like I’m biased or bitter towards something or someone and that’s really not the case.

Does Memphis have a place to host the TSSAA Tournament? Yes. Well, there are actually two places.

One place will be the Elma Roane Fieldhouse, which is located on the University of Memphis campus. Let me just say there are high school gyms in West Tennessee that are better than that gymnasium. Murphy Center is head and shoulders over the Elma Roane Field Fieldhouse any day of the week.

The second place would be FedEx Forum. However, I would think the FedEx Forum and the Memphis Grizzlies would have no desire to host the tournament, which will mean the Grizzlies would have to be out of town for 4 straight days, then head back into town for a game or two, then go back out of town. I doubt there's enough money for the Grizzlies to entertain that. With that being said, FedEx Forum would be an amazing place to host the tournament, and for the players to get that experience. Hotels are also pricey in downtown Memphis, and the nearest ones will be in Northern Mississippi, or in the Bartlett area.

Here's the best case scenario:

East Tennessee will hose Football and Golf state championships

Middle Tennessee will host the basketball tournament (because they are basically two separate tournaments).

West Tennessee will host the Spring Fling and Volleyball state tournaments in Jackson.

Therefore, every region of the state will host two tournaments. I know that is not the case and will likely never be the case, but I do think it's the perfect situation.

Which venue would be better as a host? Both good arenas centrally located, Tech’s gym looks better and more updated than MTSU when watching the D-2 tourney a couple weeks ago.

Why not Thompson Boiling at the flagship University?  In Illinois they play at the University of Illinois and North Carolina use to play in the Dean Dome, not sure if they still do.

Jackson cannot host a state track meet

Maybe the only downside. Just assuming that USJ can get a track scoreboard and the upgrades for it. They host track meets so I know they could (at least) host that sport.

USJ not even close to being able to hold a meet like that
