school closing in Shelby county

The Commercial Appeal is reporting that MLK Prep is closing at the end of the school year.  Its returning students will transfer to Trezevant for the 2024-2025 school year.

Was there a reason why they're closing? Not totally sure that students have to go to Trezevant.

the news story said that the contract between the operator of the school and the school board was expiring and was not going to be renewed.  The news story also reported that the students would be going to Trezevant as that is the closest Shelby county school.

Students will transfer to Trezevant. Students who are good at football will transfer to MASE.

Will Trez remain 2A after the influx of another 2A school?

it all depends on how the TSSAA does classification in the fall.

MASE is a charter. They can accept kids from any where.

And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet,city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
