He’s still there.

Dang 2 guys who rushed for 1800+ yards returning on the same team. Top 10 CB in the country for 2026. Athletes literally everywhere. If coach Puckett can build up that o-line and front 7 in the same way he did a LC (big, nasty, mean, and disciplined) Haywood could have a great shot.

Picked up Canada again as his DC too

Beat Oakland AT Oakland, eh? They might need to talk to the Mairvul folks about that. 70-1 at home under Creasy. I like the confidence tho

As a Haywood fan, i can't say that the Tomcats can beat Oakland, but i will say that it is very likely to be a lot closer game than most anyone will expect.

As much as I would love for haywood to win that game I think it's a tough task. You have to he confident going into any game or you never be able to compete against better teams

All the respect to Haywood, always respected Hoofkin for scheduling up and I think Puckett is a good coach too.

There's a difference bewteen being 4A good and being 6A good. Pearl is the only team in 4A I've seen that could consistently be on Oakland's level.

The difference is coaches and facility, east teams usually has better coaches and better facility Haywood has added coaches this year and has fix up the facility so when they have the same in everything thing will change because they have the talent but you have to have the coaches to coach the talent

I tend to agree with you.  East Teams that are constantly in the hunt have great coaches and great facilities (I know Greeneville, Elizabethton, and AC do.  Don't know about Upperman or not).  Since moving to 6 classifications the eastern side of the state has dominated in 4a.(11-4 in state championship games)  The west side is usually PC or Haywood that represents in the championship for 4a.

I think PC is a great program but don't think they are the only 4a program consistently on Oaklands level. (Last year was the first championship since going to 6 classifications PC won and their are multiple other programs that have won multiple state championships during that time frame in 4a)

    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
