Why not push the regions back to January and do a full investigation into this issue and make it right? Even if it doesn't end up changing a single team it would be a much better look for the tssaa.

Because it’s Milan. See below:

There is more to it if you look up the entire coaching staff and understand decades of favoritism by the T$$AA.

My guess is you'll get the alignments and then some type of policy/language to address the Schools within a school moving forward.

It won't be as timely as some folks will want but I think this is how it'll play out.

It might take a few years but with Milan being called out for cheating and not being in 3A, I have a feeling something will change.

Sadly,  guys on here spend more time looking at the data than TSSAA officials. The numbers below were reported for the 2022-2023 school year.  Milan reported 521 students in Milan High and 26 in Milan High Academy. The sum 547 (137 kids per grade) was over the 3A threshold for that classification period. Milan reported 533 and the cutoff was 541. Curiously, they reported 579 (145 kids per grade) in grades 5-8. Two years later with those larger classes moving up they dropped to a reported 501 enrollment. They also average 145 kids per grade in PK-4. So Pk-8 grade Milan had 145 kids per grade. But 9-12 drops to 125???

It’s odd for sure but the excuse i’m sure will be the way they do districting . Gibson County High School and South Gibson aren’t that far away .

Nah, I’ve said it for three years now, they are scared of competition. Now I’m beginning to think they are petrified.

They have bounced around so many classifications (2A, 4A, 3A) that they finally just resorted to cheating. (Straight up cheating). They have their guy in the T$$AA and are basically saying “do something about it”.

Not sure about decades ago but the past several years they have run from Covington and then Alcoa and a couple of others. Now it’s Westview, Covington and a couple of others.

I’ll say it here and coin the wording: Milan is the best 3A school in 2A!

You're more than likely correct about this. Just seems like the logical and appropriate thing to do is to be transparent and tell everyone we will push back setting the regions so we can appropriately investigate the current issue.

1. This helps TSSAA build some trust with schools because they are actually doing something about the issue and not continuing to ignore/sweep it under the rug.

2. Definitely promotes player safety. 3A/4A school playing down in 2A can create a safety issue especially if those 3A/4A teams are playing one of the smaller 2A schools while having a definite numbers advantage.

3. Pushing regions back to January does not hurt or effect scheduling for teams at all. Most teams will complete their non-region schedule within 24-72 hours of the region schedules being posted anyway.

If I am incorrect here or not considering something, someone please let me know.

Great post and makes sense to me! Saying that, the T$$AA rarely does anything that makes sense. Knowing them and their ties to Milan, I think the delay may be to provide time to come up with a statement relating to the excuse of why they are allowing Milan to do what they are doing (cheat). After all, they (at least one BOC member) have known about the “Academy “ since its inception and they didn’t put a stop to it or add the numbers themselves.

Till the TSSAA decides to make the punishment severe enough to make it stupid to even think about cheating it's going to continue. These slaps on the wrists don't get anybodies attention. I hate a cheater, if you can't play straight up you you don't deserve to be on the field. What Riversides being accused of to me is a major offense. It has given them a huge advantage and they ought to stripped of everything. I hate a cheater with a passion!
