Here is my reasoning on this weeks poll. Haywood did not come out and play like I had hoped or expect d they would. They got punched in the mouth and really had no answer. But let’s be honest…. Is there a team in West TN outside of Shelby Conthat could do better?  In my opinion there is no one with the stones in this area to even schedule a team like Oakland so that deserves some respect on Haywood’s part. There are some good teams in the 4A playoffs that they could see… so they are going to have to learn to be resilient.

Henry Co. showed some fight pulling out the late win over traditional rival Springfield. Covington won as most expected but Dyersburg’s young team made them earn every bit of the win.  I was surprised at the margin of victory in the McKenzie game. I know Chester is a good team with decent talent, but after seeing Milan have their way with Chester the week before, I expected more from the rebels. Some may disagree with me but that is the reason I moved Westview ahead of them.

JCS flexed some muscle in a big win. South Gibson impressed with a 17pt win over Hardin Co. after losing their best player to a season ending injury. Riverside, JCM and South Fulton also had wins over decent teams. A couple other West TN teams flying under the radar at 3-0 so far. What’s everyone’s thoughts?

I agree that Dyersburg is worth watching. I don’t think their season is done. Who knows how good Westview really is? Their opponents so far could not punch their way out of a paper bag. And, they add on Liberty Tech in week 4. Looking ahead, they get Dyer County in week 5. That could be their first real test.

Dyersburg is young and those young players will do nothing but get better as they get reps and game experience. Playoffs they will be tough if they stay healthy. I am really looking forward to week 5 for Westview vs Dyer Co. DC has a big running back that is legit. Westview will need to be ready for him.

Dyersburg is young and played Covington closer than I expected. No way I'd have South Fulton above them and even West Carroll in the poll.Just like always, some teams beat nobody's early in the season and get a win and get ranked. Then play someone and lose several.I watched LC beat the brakes off West Carroll in a scrimmage and got like one first down.Granted it was a scrimmage.Lake Co,South Fulton,West Carroll couldn't beat these teams. Here we go again with records.Eould most people pick West Carroll against Union City who isn't on list and has tough losses?

Injury bug hit Dyersburg early this year losing starting defensive end. DC also has good passing game with a mobile quarterback for Westview to deal with

West Carroll and South Fulton are not in the poll.  The teams outside the Top 10 are not in any particular order and are not necessarily “ahead of anyone”. Please stop this. I asked you to please stop last year and you never did. I gave my reasoning at the beginning of this thread. I do that because of you. You continually said I only placed teams in the poll cause of records and I continually told you I didn’t last year. I asked you very nicely to please stop accusing me of something that I wasn’t doing over and over and you never did.  It got so bad I called you a jerk and you went off crying about how I called you names. But truth be told you were 100% being called a jerk cause you wouldn’t stop after being asked multiple times very nicely to do so.

Bottom line is now I post my reasoning cause of you. None of my Top 10 are there because of their records. If record was the main criteria my top teams wouldn’t be Haywood and Henry Co cause they have a loss. I will ask you again to please stop saying that cause it simply isn’t true.

Agreed. Union City is the only single A team other than McKenzie that should sniff that list, and I’m not sure if they even do this year. I love the fact that Gleason, South Fulton, West Carroll, Lake Co, and Halls are doing well, but none of them will compete with Union City if we’re being honest.
