Page Schedule

I'm not trying to be funny or mean, but I hadn't realized that Page was undefeated so far.  I was pretty impressed by that until I looked at their schedule, and they are 10-0, but theyve only played two teams with winning records, and by winning records, i mean 6-4 - both of em.   What's up with that scheduling?  How can you have their talent and recent tradition and not schedule any competitive games?  Do the football powers avoid one another in scheduling?  Love it if someone could explain it.

You can run but you can’t hide and a weak schedule normally catches up with teams at some point during the playoffs.  You need to be battle tested to win a state championship.

W-L doesn't tell the whole story. Played the same schedule last year and got to state so I don't think that will be a problem

No matter the schedule, Page allowed 13 points all season. They are coming off three straight State Championship game appearances so whatever they are doing is working.

You realize teams schedule for a 2 year period? It’s not like Page could have changed their schedule heading into this year.

They are poised to make another run to Chattanooga.

one of those teams Page routed this year by bout 30 or so pts.....handed Page a L last season.....you cant predict what THE MAJORITY of teams are goin to give you from year to the next.........and you cant just swap durin mid season for a stronger contestant cause another is gettin throttled by everyone....

....but the best an explainin Booger can give ReRun92 is that Page is somewhere with less than 10 L's and bout 50ish W's in past 4 seasons.......Page had Zero control over 15 of those contestants they played in the previous 3 years...and Page beat 12 of them...

...heres the kicker....Page got 3 showins in a row at the Big Dance for Gold Ball at Finley....

...Page just fine

Booger likes some Page....and what that feller Rathbone be doin....Page staff ant no joke either....

....Booger could play, coach or be a fan of a team that showed up for a Gold Ball contest and lose every time....and might just be OK

Great post OP and one that was highly debated a couple of years ago.

With so many 5/6A schools in Williamson and Davidson counties, you can put all of the schools in a hat and draw for regions and all the schools are relatively close. Since we moved up from 4A, for some reason, we have had more success.

Indy, Franklin and Giles are traditional rivals and all are typically good and, add Fairview in the mix. If Indy and Franklin were back in 5A, their schedules and W/L records would be completely different. They usually are in 6A anyway.

Even with what seems like a weak schedule, we have made it to the ‘ship the past few years and, this is despite a large amount of skepticism. Add in we have several top college commits and one 5* commit.

I’m hoping this year we bring the gold ball home!

    • Yeah corbin thats the team.  Yeah they are 4a now, but in 2017 they was 3a, and didnt win a title, and was steamrolled in there playoff loss.  They alo got beat by a 1a team that year just looked up there secedule.  Point is a 3a team in tennessee good enough to win a title should not be losing to a 3a team in kentucky that got whipped in there playoffs plus lost to a 1a team.  We always say tennessee football is far superior than kentucky, but our teams have not been doing a good job of showing it.  Ive always felt a 3a champion in tennessee is equivalent to about a 5a team in the weak bluegrass state, but the few games ive followed the last decade we have been getting whipped.  Blackmon to bowling green, alcoa to corbin.   The worst is when Union City played a team about there size named mayfield the same year they won a title, but got beat by like 40 and shutout.  Then that mayfield team doesnt win a title.  Ive seen far to many of our teams win a title, and the same dang year lose to a school from kentucky thats about equal in size that isnt even good enough to win a title in there state.  That mayfield team beat trousdale county one year, and it was trousdale only loss in like a 40 something game stretch, then that team gets whipped in the finals in kentucky. So no team trousdale played in there class can beat them for like 3 years, and they go undefeated against there out of class opponents in tennessee, but lose the one game they play against kentucky to another small school that is around there size.  Do u not think it looks bad when our number 1 team in a class plays a kentucky team thats the 2nd-5th best team in there class of similar size and loses.  Sure doesnt look good to me.  We always down kentuckys football, and say we r superior, but we have looked like a joke in about every game ive cared to follow when i thought its a great matchup.  Alcoa, union city, blackman, trousdale co ive seen it to many times.   I was all over that thread when union city played mayfield, and a coulple of those mayfield fans got on this board, and there was a good back and forth, between us in tn and the mayfield posters.  We was telling them how superior union city would b and how they would run it down there throats all night.  Of course the mayfield fans just said wait and c tennessee football is behind the times, then after union city got destroyed we looked stupid.  Aint noone on here thought alcoa would lose to corbin either and they did.  I dont care if it was in ot, do we do moral victories now?  Hay we can win 10 titles a row in 3a in our state, but the 1 time we play a kentucky 3a team we lose, but lets b happy it was only by a point in overtime to a team that cant win in any class they have been in in 40 years so lets celebrate that our champion cant beat there runner up who was beaten badly in there title game lets be happy about it.
    • Northview was very impressive last year. I think their draw cost them last year. They played South Side and Dyersburg and then Heritage. South Gibson, South Side and Dyersburg only two will go from the west. Will be a dogfight for sure. Like I said earlier, if South Gibson don't learn to score they won't make it to state. Will be interesting for sure.
    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few. And as far as Wilkins riding off into the sunset, where do y'all seem to think he will leave?? Wilkins is a healthy dude and he loves basketball and loves coaching. I wouldn't be suprised if he coaches a few more years. He loves the game and loves every minute of coaching.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
