[Lookout Valley has lost ground to the private schools in Chattanooga every year for the last few years in baseball, softball and basketball.

I don't understand what "lost ground" means here? 

The only sport that LV is losing ground in is Football, and it isn't only to the privates in the area.  It has become a Baseball and Basketball school of late.

 

p.s.  Kudos to the kids and coaches at Valley this year...Football with a 13 man roster is as tough as it comes.  Congrats for staying the course!  You guys have a lot of guts and deserve respect.

So, is the fact that LV has become a "Baseball and Basketball school of late" because they want to, or because they're losing football players to the privates?

 

Kudos are certainly in order; but it's so easy to "congratulate" players on their "courage" when the offer an automatic checkmark in the "W" column.

 

Happy Valley and Hampton were always praising Unaka for their courage when they were pounding them into the ground every year. So Unaka dropped them in football; now HV (and especially) Hampton are relentless in their assault of the "cowardly" Rangers.

 

Any way the LV team could stop playing SP and Boyd until they get better? Or does it not look like they're gonna be getting better in the foreseeable future?

 

Baldcoach, I don't mean any of this to offend you; but it looks like LV is in a desperate situation with their football program. Looks like they need a couple years to re-group; if re-grouping is a possibility at this point.

If the TSSAA puts in a multiplier by metro county population standards it will hurt Lookout Valley High School because it is the only 1A public school in the state that is in a METRO AREA.

Yeah...that whopping 1.2 multiplier will zoom them up to 306 instead of 255. It won't affect their classification.

That's the figure I've heard. I don't know if that is correct or not. If it is...I don't see if affecting very many schools.

The multiplier for private schools would be 1.5 or 2.0 and the multilpier for urban schools would be 1.2. They are two different things.

The schools which will be effected most are the schools on the so called line of being AA or AAA ,or A or AA IN basketball. It needs to be remembered that all classifications will be split with ALL the 320 member schools in mind.THE schools which play only basketball figure heavily.The enrollment figures now on the T.S.S.A.A. web site now are old.If one uses last springs figures from the state, things will look different.When a 1.2 multiplier is used, with a 2.0 . The bottom enrollment for AAA is between 1000 ane 1100 . 450 TO 500 for AA.There are several schools which have had big changes in enrollment.

Ronnie Carter has already said there will be no changes whatsoever to the schools in DII with the possible exception of re-alignment within DII. If they put in the two multipliers it will look something like this:

 

All DI private schools will use some form of multiplier (1.5 or 2.0) and it will force many schools into 2A or 3A. All public schools in metro counties (Shelby, Hamilton, Knox, Davidson) will use a 1.2 or 1.5 multiplier which will force some from 2A to 3A and others from 3A to 4A, and some into 5A.

 

A separate issue to be considered will be the so-called Virginia Plan which will more than likely be voted in even if they don't add the multiplier.

What is Ronnie Carter going to do? He says no changes will be made to Division II. What is he planning to change? It sounds like it is his decision to make. So much for a legislative council.

DII was never a part of the previous proposal. They would have only been affected if the DI privates were sent packing to DII.
