Cozart signed with Tennessee out of high school but didn't make it in. He signed with Tennessee again out of junior college but had some problems with drugs. Wasted millions, possibly. Westmoreland signed with Cleveland Browns the other day if I'm not mistaken. Injuries will probably keep him from being the star he could've been, hopefully he'll still have his health when he steps away from the game. They're compensated well, he should be set for life, but the NFL is brutal.

Kelly was one odf the smartest QB's I have ever seen. He was cool as a cumcumber under pressure...just dared you to come after him. I think Edmiston was awesome too, but Kelly was a better overall player!

That Whittemore from Brentwood High had the prettiest passes and the most accurate of just about any QB I have ever seen. He waited for you to challenge him before he would even attempt to throw . I mean that kid was on the money with every pass!

Growing up in San Diego, I had the chance to see many great high school football players many of which you guys have heard. In a city known for running backs none was better than Ricky Williams. Heisman trophy winner at Texas and former NCAA record holder. Not the best decisions in life though. The best player I have ever played against is a star by the name of Reggie Bush. His teams always beat us by at least 30 points since we were both in like 3rd grade. My friends dad predicted him winning the heisman when we were in Junior high and I think hes on the right path. Also Alex Smith from the same high school as Bush was a good QB now starting at the university of Utah.

My four best would be James Brooks and Ron Simmons from Warner Robins, Ga.

Brooks went on to Auburn and Simmons to FSU. Simmons was a TE/MLB and would up a 3X All-American NT at FSU.

Next would be the Brown brothers at Cookeville, Watson & Mack, both college coaches.

Now before you go crazy, I got on line under my wife's name and no I don't put those crazy smiley faces after my post's.

Danny Spradlin from the Maryville high teams from the mid 70's was the best player i've ever seen . he was a physical freak way ahead of his time . think Al Wilson ... only bigger . someone with his size , strength, and speed even today would be considered a freak .

John Henderson was more intimidating looking than Spradlin, but Spradlin was not only bigger and stronger than everybody else , he was also faster , and could run the smallest , quickest back down and then crush him .

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
