White House at Portland

The problem is, the whistle goes off when Portland scores, when they punt, when they kick, when they intercept, when they get a first down, when the concession stand opens, when a player takes a drink of water...it's just the overkill of it that gets annoying. I respect the tradition of it, but blow it on the plays that matter. And yes, I remember the year before last when WH was up 28-0 in the 2nd quarter. The whistle stayed silent. I guess that's the best answer as an opponent if you have a problem with it, score early and often....!!!

As a Greenbrier resident, we'll glady give you OUR train, but the track seems to be stuck to the ground. <_< (Unlike Portland, I HATE that train---theirs and ours.)

Go Big Blue! Beat those Panthers.

Greenbriercat, it's been a while since you heard our train. Come on over and see if you can cash in on the earplugs and watch a great game.  B)

It may have been a while----but I still hear it ringing in my ears! Oh, wait..no that's OUR train. <_<

One of the last times I was at Portland, I listened to the train whistle across the field, and heard the real train go behind the bleachers. It was worse than being tied to the tracks! B)

I don't know which is more annoying-----Portland's train or White House's Bleach Bottle Gang.    :(

With the noise level in Portland tomorrow night, I'm glad I'll be in Nashville watching our Cats.

Or maybe I should just stand outside Portland's gates and sell earplugs???

Decisions, decisions.

The bleach bottles would be, I assume, the Rowdy Bunch.

Be careful what you wish for in Nashville. While the crowds and sound effects may not be as loud, you will get the wonderful pleasure of hearing the bagpipe boy walking up and down the home sideline during warm-ups.

I realize that may be some kind of tradition, but every time I can remember going to Lipscomb, this was extremely annoying.

I understand that portland has been rebuilding in the last year or two, but I woudn't count PORTLAND out of this game tonight something tells me that we are going to win this game tonight and it won't be as hard as it has been in the past.

Final Score Portland-28

    • Worst thing SC could do is get rid of Dyer. I agree with everything said above.
    • Jada Hart, Jasmine Bailey and Kaitlyn Patterson the first two being PG's are all good guards and can handle ball pressure and are good players. Raven Wells will be a good post. There were games this summer where any one of the one's I mentioned were in double figures. Gibson County will control TO's much better this year and they will press more and get back to playing faster. AA is down across the board. I have been all over watching ball. Alcoa jumped to AAA and Jackson County moved down. to A. No telling who wins it this year. I agree Union City, Westview and Gibson County will be a dogfight and must see basketball. Poster insuated that Gibson County has a mental block against Westview. Well give me Maddie Gray and we line up last year and they wouldn't have won a game. Let's see how Westview does this year. Their starting five last year had three transfers in it. Rogers from Obion, Trevathon from Greenfield and Gray from South Fulton. Looks like they swung and missed with the girl from Florida this year so let's see how they do playing with kids from Westview. Gibson County has a really good 7th grade class this year.I have done learned you play with what you got and work them hard and develop them and see what happens. Just keep battling and see what happens. I like our team this year. Very athletic. Every year is the same with injuries and can be catistrophic to any. I watched GC all summer long. South Side and GC was very evenly matched and was a classic war.We had some quality wins this summer. Beat Huntingdon, Henry County, Bowling Green, Liitle Rock Central as well as a couple other quality Kentucky Teams. Westview's talent pool may not be what it has been without transfers the next few.
    • I think Gibson County is a top five team this next season but I do agree they will drop off a lot after this year.  Westview lost a ton and will be down this season and hopes of returning to glass house again is slim.  The run they have had is super impressive!
    • My take on GC for this year: Based on what I saw last year and heard this summer, I’m not sure GC could surprise me next year with any outcome. Wilkins is a great coach - they could win the district and region and go to Murfreesboro. They could also come in third in the district and not get out of region. The two returning starters are very talented but Guru is right that they didn’t always play hard last year. The other three starters are good enough in their roles for GC to be successful. There is no depth. Foul trouble could be a problem - Wilkins may avoid it by playing a lot of zone. An injury would be catastrophic. I hope they have a big year and Wilkins rides off into the sunset in Murfreesboro because, without some significant transfers, there are some tough years coming in the next few.
    • Daniel Boone coming down to 3A makes this much tougher. They added a couple transfers to the Flores girl. Cocke Co, Northview, Greeneville, and Daniel Boone - only two headed to Murfreesboro.
