naderman
I was wondering if little plastic mega-phones are in violations of TSSAA rule for indoor gymnasiums. I've seen them in the past, but this is the first year that I have seen one taken up by a school official. Can anyone help me with this? CoachT
Not that I know of: "D. No explosive devices shall be allowed for regular-season or tournament games. In addition, no air horns, cow bells, sirens, clackers, cans with marbles or rocks inside or any other artificial noise makers are allowed." I don't think that would be an artificial noisemaker but I guess it is up to the interpreter.

Harris' hooligans
megaphones are subject to administration and the refs..... if you have a reasonable amount of students most of the time they will tell u to put them up..... our administration and us had a war over whether or not we could use them we would take poster board to away games until they figured out we travel everywhere then they started sending someone to watch us
cav43
yeah i know at cookeville a dry erase board has been snatched up many a time. i understand airhorns, but plastic megaphones and shakers should be aloud, its all part of homecourt advantage. Sometimes the officials and administrators can take the fun out of things, battling the crowd is part of a road game.
Harris' hooligans
there are no road games for siegel ha....we carry around the dry erase board everywhere we go....shakers should be aloud and if your doing a good enough job...you shouldnt need megaphones..... i remember back when the titans went to Indianapolis the year they went to Super Bowl....Indy fans tried to make a plan to bring shakers to the game but the NFL didnt allow them too because they know that if that many ppl had shakers it would sound like a jet engine inside a buildling.....its understandable why they dont allow artificial noisemakers.....but there is a solution bring more people Edited December 7, 2004 by Harris' hooligans

Marlboro32
A couple years ago the soddy boster club bought "thunder sticks" for the students but they didn't last long. they said we could wave them but couldn't pop them. lol i thought i was funny though . afan1222
i dont know if it is illegal or not either but i am pretty sure it is during our season last year our student section would try to use numerous things to make noiseother than our voice but the refs always made our principal tell us to stop
Gerry Bertier
Megaphones should be allowed, The TSSAA is taking the fun out of the game, it is probably cause most of the refs hear it in their ear all night cause they stink. Harris' hooligans
techinically megaphones are allowed during the season because they do make a specific reference to it for playoffs and they are banned during post season but no specific reference during regular season.....but its simple logic if you have 5 fans there most wont care if u have megaphones .....if you have 100 and everyone has a megaphone thats different and most refs know where to draw the line
