Why doesn't maryville play other states top teams?

I mean you can look at it that way, but on the field when it was Memphis City Schools vs Maryville, White Station won one and we Split with the Red Dragon. WE got it done. NO ONE ELSE DID :popcorneater:[/quote

Cmon man it ain't Maryvilles fault if Memphis City don't show up

No blame placed on Maryville. I was making a point that 6A Memphis schools have faired better than EVERYONE else in the 6A playoffs vs the Red Dragon. Its a legit point or nah?

You have to be a very mature team to go into Orange Mound and not be intimidated. When the bleachers back up to the projects and it requires a police escort both in and out you understand the situation. Maryville is talented enough to win playing @ Melrose but it would be like playing the "U" in the Orange Bowl back when Jimmy Johnson was coaching. It can get crazy if Melrose is good.

You don't NEED a police escort in and out... We usually needed one out due to the mass number of people in attendance but NEVER for safety purposes. I don't appreciate these types of comments. Don't let fake fear run your behavior.

The BEST players clearly go to either Maryville or Alcoa. C'mon son

Actually that's not true at all. WB has some good talent every year and Heritage will usually have atleast 1 or studs on the team. The thing that has held WB and Heritage back is lackluster coaching. Now that both schools have good coaches they won't be in the basement much longer. I think WB getting Shadowens will hurt Alcoa because Alcoa has poached a few really good players off of us over the years.

Yes, I have been to both Newport and Orange Mound where Melrose plays. I know that Newport is rough but it's like Disneyland compared to playing in Orange Mound. Ask anyone that has ever played @ Melrose and they will tell you just how dangerous things are there. Jimmy Carter had the tires stolen off the presidential limo while speaking at Melrose back in the 70's and things have only gotten worse.

Lol. Would of loved to see jimmy when he got back to his car

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
