District 3A

Grace wins 3A and it won't be close. Only way they don't finish first is if they pull a usual Grace and save their pitching until they need it, and even then it may not matter.

No doubt GCA is the team to beat...but GB was right there when they played. GCA's advantages are tough to overcome for the teams in their district and region... would be a good story if GB could break through given where they were not long ago.

What's up with the tournament format this year? Are they only doing double elimination for the final 4? If so, that's a total crock.

Don't think it mattered, our team for whatever reason just couldn't find a way to win. We played right with all the teams in the region but we always did enough to lose. Enjoyed my 4 years just the same.

Can't figure out this District 3A bracket. For one no bracket posted and everybody just guessing the format. Not sure how many teams are even left. Is it Grace, Greenback, Meigs, and Rockwood only? Were Tellico and Harriman eliminated with one loss? Heard it's supposed to end Wednesday which could make sense only if 4 teams are left. Anybody know?

Greenback lost to Meigs yesterday 3-2.  They were down 3-0 from the 1st inning on......Then capitalized on a Meigs error and a key hit to mount a comeback in the 7th.  But just came up short.

Rockwood got drilled by Grace 15-2.  Played bad.  Threw young kids.  Saved better arms for today.

Today is scheduled as Rockwood v.  Greenback     5:30--Losers Bracket

Meigs        v.  Grace             7:30--Winners Bracket Final

If GB wins today then they will play the winners bracket winner correct?? Double elimination. Edited by orngnblk

No.  Winners Bracket winner gets a bye to the District Championship game.

Winner of GB/Rockwood will face the loser of Meigs/Grace in a losers bracket final tomorrow,

GB beat Rockwood 3-2 in a nail biter. Great game with both teams battling to the end. Key timely hits by upperclassmen in 6th followed by great at bats and base running by some Freshmen put GB over the top in the 7th. Walk off steal home to seal the deal. Meigs vs GB could be a dandy tomorrow!

Not a walk off steal when the RW catcher threw it into LF

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
