Mav, you were so awesome in your posts until now. I’m not sure most Devil fans think we will be in the finals this year. You have declared as a homie the mavs win it all. So what if the press think otherwise. Personally I think you are the best shot to be in the finals.

Keep all the glittery things, we will just keep winning. However… open zones. Just make it open across the board, not just LC.

What are y’all feeding them boys or should I say young men over there? Looks like he has a bright future ahead of him. If he wants to take off in a couple of weeks that will be fine. He can get ready for your other games.

We're all hearing the same things you're hearing, and I've heard enough to know a good bit is true stuff, which would lead one to believe that all of it is. A kid moves into the LC zone, case closed, life goes on. But if not, and these athletes are allowed to play immediately, that's a major problem, one that will continue and get worse if it's not stopped. The LC buildings and facilities don't lie, they are way way way over the top, they've been handed a bunch of stuff that the rest of the high schools in the county have had to scrap, scrape, fundraiser and beg sponsors in the communities to get. A new school is obviously going to be nice and glittery, but what they put together out there, along with the dollars they shelled out to the athletic programs, is a complete slap in the face to rest of the county. Now maybe the school board has major plans to be fair and help even the score, but please come out and make that known. We're all waiting.

2 absolute studs that are known all around is what I meant and I know that was understood, Peabody has 4 guys playing D 1 ball from that team and multiple more studs , you and I know all the studs in the world don’t matter at times ! Really hope we get to meet up again ! Gonna be a great season , we lost a lot but return the best line in 1 A by a huge margin and Cassidy is probably my favorite non TideMan and a great kid !

Told that boy all along The Oak is the place to be. Had a great time with him at Big Daddys one evening and the decision was made. Sucks you can't go to football camp or send your son to football camp with out something disturbing happening to them.

Most DB fans get a little frustrated come scrimmage time. I don't recall at any time when DB went into a scrimmage to win it, or see how many scores they can get. It's frustrating to the fans because we're all ready for some football and we're all wanting to see the horses run. I think most staffs are like this but there are some that would prefer to show off rather than teach and learn. It's even worse if you have a bunch of players returning. You pretty much already know what they can do so you tend to sprinkle in the younger and less experienced guys to see how they react. I could probably count on one hand the number of scrimmages DB has "won" in the past 10 years. I've learned not to get excited or dejected over a simple scrimmage.

Fake News, friend., I have been by the 7v7s and practices. GT is there and is a live wire as usual. He brought back his old friend and Maverick favorite, Tony Lambert and the party seems to be on in Maverickland. Stop by next Friday and watch the Mavs host Stone Memorial , and I am sure you will see Coach GT or hear him on the field.

Rollins carried that EHS team last season. Looking towards this season, it will be many players spreading the wealth. What’s scarier? Not knowing where the ball will go? Or knowing and STILL not being able to do anything about it? No Rollins, no Roberts, no Gudger, no Galespie. It’s 2022. It’s the next chapter, for everyone. It’s why high school football is the best IMO. Watching young boys become young men and mature into special people is rewarding and entertaining. Our programs have cycled a lot of quality people through their ranks. I’m just excited to see the next generation step up.

At any given home game there is 1500 to 2000 "fans" that don't give a flip about the actual game. Band parents/grandparents, blue hairs, and middle school kids just hanging out.

Murphy Fair did a lot of great things for high school football across the state of TN for such a long period of time. Donovan Stewart does an amazing job covering high school football as well. Instead of criticizing and trying to throw shade at Murphy Fair for what he knew/didn’t know perhaps you should be appreciative of the good things he did to promote high school football and young people across the state for so many years. Happy Retirement Murphy! Hope to catch you at a game sometime.

I think it has to be Powell, as they are on the schedule and have been. Powell has gotten the best of the Mavs recently, but it has to have been some of the Best football games played in recent history. Even before the past 4 years, it was played on a yearly basis from 2009-2014 I think, and even before that it was played late 90's and early 2000s. Clinton hasn't been competitive for almost 23 years with AC, and currently decided to put the game on hold while they rebuild their team. Campbell Co played AC for 6 years 2009-2014 and went 0-6, and decided not to play again, so they can't really be a rivalry either. No offense to the cougars or dragons, but that is the story that is there. I wish they could all play again, but with school enrollments, AC is the smaller school by a few hundred, and never seems to get put in the districts with the other schools. I think they were 2-300 less than Campbell Co, and 100- 200 less than Clinton. As I understand , the Mavs enrollment is less now than it was 2 years ago, and they may be in AAAA again. Either way, I expect the Mavericks to play Powell for along time as the gates are good as they get, and the competition is incredible for the fans. Last year, the game was almost 3.5 hours and had 108 points scored. Both teams basically return, and I expect it to be a shootout for sure. The year before Powell got the win on the last play of the game, on an incredible scramble and throw. Fans should get their tickets early for this game for sure. Might bring a chair, as I don't think there will be a seat to be had.

Baylor and McCallie having full scale boarding programs. LA using their resources to their advantage is smart, honestly. I've always thought the first big boy in Nashville to commit the $$$ to a boarding program would run DII.

That is the thing. For the kid to be eligible he is supposed to be a full time resident with a parent or guardian unless you provide housing, which Lipscomb does not.

Yeah folks in Chattanooga area hate driving up to Rhea, but also because they know when they come to Rhea they are going to get a game. Still makes me smile when my friend from Cleveland talks about hating to play at Rhea because the next day he knew he was going to be sore.
