  1. This looks to be a better game for Westview than Union City. If, that's IF you can stop UC's run game and make them one dimensional, they seem rather beatable. Looks like what Westview did. But, how will the Mustangs do it? Is the Mustang QB up to it? He seems to get a lot of good press. I think this is going to be a fantastic game.
  2. Lack of effort was never the problem against McKenzie. The lack of an effective game plan by any stretch of the imagination doomed the Lions right out of the gate, Pass game struggling? Lets throw 30 straight times. Defending a high speed running attack? Lets crowd the middle & play chase up the sidelines against arguably the best/fastest runner anywhere. Never any adjustment. Tried the same 6 plays all night long. 3 & a half quarters with one single run play? Hats off to McKenzie, they are everything they are made up to be and then some. The Lions were flat failed. The kids were ready. The untold thousands of fans that these kids got completely embarrassed in front of. Dozens of McKenzie fans walking that parking lot saying how good Dresden was, then ask what was wrong with the team. It was widely evident even to them, that something was amiss. It sure was. Will they bouce back? ha-haha
  3. Too many coaches off all leagues get the SABAN SYNDROME, to where all they see is him ranting to the point of explosion, and he's the best coach ever....... so the more I scream.... and it goes from there. Tons of good coaches everywhere, unfortunately, like the refs, a few bad ones get a lot of print.
  4. Omarion Harris, Senior WR/DB/RB/LB/Etc. from Westview should be in the hunt on this list. He probably won't be because of Westview's complete lack of effective quarterback play in getting him the ball. If the defense gives him one step, it's over. If they DON'T give him a step, he's still a threat to score from anywhere on the field any given play. But every team around knows this and keys on him as he is the answer to stopping the offense. This is not even mentioning his outstanding defensive work. He plays for the enemy Westview, but gotta give props where they are due. This young man should have college offers stacked like cordwood.
  5. True. Some of us are nearly landlocked against the state line & will always have to travel a long ways to play. But it's like TSSAA needs to hire someone to read them a map!!!
  6. Not much diff. I think a lot will be surprised by who all goes up to 2A on the next cycle.
  7. It was a smothering hot night! Lions scored 3 times missed one of their 2 pointers. UC scored twice with 1 or maybe 2 conversions. The last one, nobody cheered like they stopped it, nobody cheered like that made it, the refs never gave a signal that I saw. Sooooooo, roughly 22 to 14/16. Both teams looked good, UC had the size advantage. Lions had the scrappy advantage. There are definitely some kids out there pushing the starters for their job. Like it should be.
  8. I don't really see this being close. Who is the real threat in the second half of the season?
  9. To put things in perspective here, I saw both teams play my Dresden Lions. That said, Perry has a half dozen kids that play their hearts out from start to finish. The rest just don't have the will or fire, at least in this point in their career, or on that night. My intentions are not to squash kids/programs and their play/dreams. Nothing could be farther. As well as the fact that this is the first time in my life I've ever seen Perry County football combined with reading PCSupporter's recent columns about how they are able to even field a team; I say I'm glad to see the kids competing. But I simply don't have much history with them to draw upon. Offense? Defense? It was the same for the most part. Even with 2 miles of penalty flags, DHS was too much for them on that night, but you couldn't tell it by those kids in the box. They tried and then tried some more. DHS is kinda good this year, so it may not be a fair shake to say much about PC. Playing teams like PC & McEwen that are so far away is just not good competition in 1A to me. No offense to them, there is just no rivalry, history, parents don't work in each others town, etc, there's just so much disconnect.
  10. I've seen Perry and Gleason, but not SH. If SH can handle the big men up front for Gleason, this game shouldn't be close.
  11. Even with a short night at Greenfield & a rough night at #1McKenzie, the Red Devils are averaging 30+ a game. West Carroll is a good team and they took them to OT. I don't care who you are, a team averaging 30 points is not to be overlooked. I can't see this game as being close in any way unless DHS lets it be. But maybe SF is closer than most think???
  12. Saturday games are awful. Thursday can be hectic with school the next day, but lots of kids have jobs and Saturday responsibilities that really interfere with those games beside just being completely out of routine.
  13. Oh yes, we do!! Many of those pics could just as easily been applied to West TN as well.
  14. Is there any way to watch this game live on the web? Or radio station online? From West TN. Thanks,
