since MBA beat Ryan twice in '98 the game hasnt been nearly as heated with MBA even handily defeating the Irish 55-12 in the '99 game at Dudley Field. Maybe the new Ryan coach can restore some pride in the program and help Ryan become a player in the rivalry.

For the past 9 years ('95-'04) the MBA/BA game has been the best rivalry in the state. With numerous games having state championship implications.

Kingsport(D- Johnson City(Science Hill) and Bristol (Tennessee High) have been playing about 80 games or more.  Not sure of the exact numbers but since the 30's and 40's.

It's to bad it will not get to continue. They will play for the next two years and that's it. Lenoir City decided not to play Loudon anymore in any sport after this year. They have to play in football because the schedule was already made when this was decided. This is not only a huge rivalry being cut, but a financially ignorant mistake on LC's part.

The ending of this rivalry had to do with one person's ego overshadowing all of the tradition and hard fought games...AD Mike Sims. Money or not, he thinks he is bigger than any tradition, and I can not believe someone with the integrity of Superintendant Wayne Miller would let this happen. Football will continue for one more year, and the rest of the sports are never to play eachother again. Sims will not even allow a scrimmage between any LC and Loudon teams. How does this man still have a job?

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
