I agree Smyrna will definetly be the under dog going in to the inferno. I am sure Blackman is really good with Mims and all the new coaches they have and Smyrna is way down this yr. I hope we can give em a good game. I predict Blackman will be undefeated going in to that game.

Just for grins, how bad will they beat Riverdale en route to being undefeated going into the Smyrna game?

Well, from when I saw Cave, he wasn't great looking when he passed. He could escape pressure well, but he overthrew quite a few receivers. I know he's young, but he still takes quite some time to choose his receiver, and doesn't have much velocity on the ball yet. I just think he needs some confidence and some consecutive pass completions. Otherwise, the coaching staff might put in Mauricio and use him with the option.

What are your thoughts on Cave???

Well. him not being able to practice today really hurt. Everyday he's not out there really hurts. Hes not exactly great, but hes the best they've got. And at times last year he was better than Locke. He's got a great arm, thats for sure. Now that we know that his knee will be ok, the only question is his confidence when he gets back. A knee injury is a very scary injury, especially for a QB because you stand back there in the pocket and it feels like everybody gets a free shot at you. I hurt my knee my sophomore year, and even though nothing was torn I still didnt have complete confidence in it until I took that first real shot and realize my knee was fine. The quicker he gets back and regains that confidence again the better off he'll be. Because if he's not there Mauricio definatley isnt a quarterback that can threaten a team at all threw the air. So all teams will do with him is stack 10 guys in the box and make him throw the ball to beat them. And the other sophomore quarterback (Shephard) has a great arm, but is a long way from being ready to play quarterback at this level.

    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
    • It will be hard opening up a restaurant and coaching a High School Football team at the same time but he did take this job as an interm coach to stop the bleed. The program is in scorched earth mode right now and could drop down to the likes of Scott County, Campbell County and Karns if they lose most of their kids out of this.
