The Cookeville Cavs should be 8,9 or 10 in the AAAAA poll,in my opinion.

Lost one game,in overtime,to the #3 team.

Not only are they not in the top ten, they didn't even get enough votes to be mentioned.

:( Ridiculous. :justwrestle:

Cookvegas should be ranked, this mentality told us that Boise State was a great team. This poll is just a poll. How about the CT poll. We follow, watch and know more about HS football than any group in the state.

I didnt really pay attention to the other polls, but the 3A poll is just plain dumb for many reasons.

1. Fulton Falcons-they r probably one of the most talented and athletic teams in the state, but not right now. they have started 0-3 so what has qualified them to be ranked 9th? they even have 2 first place votes and havent won a game. wow.

2. White House Blue Devils- it seems they are either having a down year or having a bad start. either way they havent won a game so why are they ranked 12th? not putting your BDP's down, but right now its the truth.

3. Knoxville Catholic- undefeated. dominating. very very good right now. not in the top 10. wow.

4. Cheatham County Cubs- same as above. wow.

5. Livingston Academy. same as above.

And thats just what i noticed in the 3A poll. they might as well quit having this poll. its dumb and pointless. it serves no purpose other than to waste people's time and cause controversy. simply amazing how this "poll" even got published

That is pretty much a popularity contest just like the top 20 fan poll. You know why Fulton is ranked in the top 10? Because people from other parts of the state know nothing of that region except that Fulton was state champs last year.

How the heck is Knoxville Catholic not in the top 10? They are undefeated with wins over ranked teams. I think that Murphy Fair said he thought they were a top 3 team in 3A. I guess alot of other people think that big wins over Austin East and Smith County are flukes.

While I am full of questions about my peers and their votes, the one that really sticks out is an 0-3 Fulton team being anywhere close to the top ten right now. Sure, they may be eventually ... perhaps, but not right now.

And something else to notice, twelve members actually voted. I, for one, never was able to get my votes in due to technical issues on both sides. It was frustrating and hopefully more can contribute as the season rolls on.

Even though I don't read too much into the polls, I usually do respect the AP poll....but not this time. Specifically the 3-A poll. As mentioned in some of the above posts, Knoxville Catholic (3-0 the real #1 team right now), Cheatham County (3-0 and scored over 40 points per game), and Livingston (2-1) are not even in the top 10. It also has David Lipscomb (2-1) ranked 4th while Greenbrier (3-1)is 8th. Lipscomb's only loss was to Greenbrier in week 1. Pearl Cohn (3-1) has played mostly 4-A competition and is a top 5 team. I don't think 4 of the top 5 teams in 3-A are in the west. Dyersburg appears worthy of it's ranking.

No disrespect to any one team...it just doesn't make any sense to me. I know it's early and I know this entire poll will change before the end of the season. It just looks like none of the voters (all 12) really did their homework when they voted.

Again...just one fan's opinion.....

Whats funny that in every poll Ive seen Trousdale County is #1 in 1A except the top 20 fan poll on this site. They are 6th. While Temple who is 1-2 is #2 with that 1 win coming over another team that is 1-3....

That is because in the fan poll you have a lot of people voting for their favorite team and not for the best team. Also it seems there are a lot of people voting because they think it would be "Funny" to see certain teams ranked where they shouldn't be.

A few more observations in addition to the others pointed out:

--Gleason. They may be 3-0, but their schedule includes a Kentucky cupcake, a terrible South Fulton team and a almost-as-bad Stewart Co. team. How they missed TSD is anyone's guess. They will probably go 5-5 or better, but they are not a Top 10 team.

--Union City. Sure, they're 1-2. But look who those two losses were to: Milan and Westview. Those two would beat ANYONE in 1A. UC is flat good, and they will win their final 7 games.

--Covington, Dyersburg, Crockett Co. I don't think those are the best three teams in 3A. They are all good, but Knox Catholic is right up there. The D'burg-Crockett game this week should be a great one. And Fulton is reeling hard -- they have no place in the top 10...and TWO FIRST-PLACE VOTES? Good grief, were all the voters from West Tennessee and have no clue about Knoxville football?

The 2A, 4A and 5A polls look pretty accurate. But 3A and 1A are completely ridiculous.

And the great thing is -- none of it matters whatsoever.

Wes ... I would assume you are from Union City. I do agree with you that Union City should end up winning the region ... but it won't happen until they start playing like they did at Lake County. It takes faith in each player on the field and when folks are out there playing for themselves, then ... well ... it don't work so well.

I agree with the majority of the people in the top 10, but there are so many left out. Knoxville Catholic being left out is a huge mistake. They have some wins against normally strong teams. Smith Co. and AE. I don't consider Sequoyah a normally strong team. As they get into the thick of their schedule they will move on up. Having to play a fast Fulton, physical Anderson Co. and Livingston Academy will get them the rankings they deserve.
