did oakland have a good first day of practice today?

Talked to a player and apparently they hit real well today. Not too sure bout the pitching but wont comment about it but the top 3 starters will probably be Barnes Wilson and Burnett, may very well be in that order so it can take some stress off Tyler to where he wouldnt have to start every time that its his turn in the rotation

I will post my opening day Patriot line-up based off off practices and circumstances. I can, without hesitation state, that the only thing for sure is Coach Hawks has his own plan and generally does not discuss it with the likes of me...but here we go:

cf- Polk

ss- Burnett

p- Barnes

c- Fann

3b- Dodd

1b- Warren

2b- Parsley

rf- McGowan

lf- Wright

For Oakland to be successful...pitching, pitching, pitching and infield defense!

Strengths- hitting, speed, and plenty of people that can throw strikes.

Weather permitting, Oakland plays Monday at noon against BGA (I think) at Oakland.

Was waiting for my cohort in crime to show up. Has gotten pretty lonely on the board with no big Oakland Basbeall fans to give me some back up since letsplay2 has moved on. I think your pretty close to being right on about the starting 9, wont have many holes in the starting lineup, even all the way down to Jordan Wright. Ya think Brett Wilson can take some stress of Tyler and become the #2?

Like everything else, the scrimmage with Tullahoma got cancelled, was really looking forward to it but ill have plenty of chances to see Oakland in action before the season begins

Would have been nice to see. T-Town has a soliod little team. They don't do anything great, but is solid. I ma sure Coach Hargrove wouldn't have thrown Walker.

You have doen such a great job with it, wasn't much need for me. I am no pitching expert, but "I" think Wilson will take a lot of stress of Burnett and I believe Rigler will too! Morrow from the left side could give coach an inning of solid relief to get to Stender. And also Renfroe, if he gets back to last summer form, could really help this team. Renfroe beat some good teams last summer. Of course, they are untested and time will tell but it makes 2007 very promising for the Pats! I need them to step up for 2006 though:)

    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
    • Gunner Warren was the second starter, freshman. SP #1 arm impressed me last night.
