union city lost a whole lot of seniors, and even though LC lost their workhorse fullback and almost the entire line, they return almost all of the skilled position players such as 2-time all-stater brandon springer, damio yancy, sep valentine and others as well, so im gonna go with Lake County to win their first region title in quite a few years. GO FALCONS!!!!!!!!

McKenzie might have lost Hayes, but they have most of their starters returning from last year, including 3 excellent wideouts in Smith, Rogers, and Tucker. And Carr isn't going to be any slouch behind center. I'm liking McKenzie to win the region at this point.

Mckenzie will be a better team I agree, but they won't have the horses to win the thing. I can't believe people are writing off Union City. Someone has got to knock them off first. Lake County and Union City battle for one with Union City winning a close one. Lake County two, Mckenzie three, West Carrol, Bruceton and Greenfield battle for 4.

Lake County will have the experience and the motivation after the whipping Union City put on them at Tiptonville last year....The Tornadoes were 0-2 entering the contest as they will be this year..But,Union City will be playing the Falcons at UC this year so,who knows??..I saw Lake County in the spring..They have some really good athletes and are well coached..They will be tough..But,I'm going with Union City...To be tha man you gotta beat tha man...

i do think one thing is helarious, lake county, i mean come on folks... they aint gona be nothing next year,,, the talk as if they're going to be a contestant for the title, they aren't even anywhere close to being the best in west TN... Brandon Springer is not all he is made up to be....i take that back.... he's a good ball player and has lots of talent,,,, its hard to run play and win when nobody will block for you...... and one thing they did that is a big big big no no.... is they went to fayette academy.... and they danced on MY 50 YArdline... in front of me stretching... thats when i told the guys.... "They're Gona Have to PAy For That1"

And they did 53-14

If they'll be better than last year, where they finished 2nd, how do they not have the horses to win it? How do you end up putting them 3rd behind two teams that lost a lot more on both sides of the ball than McKenzie did? Doesn't make sense.

Because buddy. I don't know what sport you are watching but in football you really need speed to win. Union City will always have it, Lake County has a lot of it this year, and Mckenzie is like the rest of the schools around here...Too many white boys that aren't very fast. Don't get me wrong I think Mckenzie will eventually win this region in the next three years, but not this year. Not enough speed...OR HORSES how ever you want to say it!!!

It was apparent to most LC followers that the Falcons mostly mailed it in after the McKenzie game last year. They did not play with the heart and intensity they had the first eight weeks after the heartbreaking 54-53 loss (which, by the way, was likely the greatest high school football game in Tennessee last year, maybe in the last 10 years). By the time the playoffs rolled around, I think they were more or less ready for it to all be over. So I wouldn't put much stock in that 53-14 score. FA was the better team, yes, but it's highly doubtful they were 39 points better.

Lake County lost some experience and size, but its speed returns mostly intact with Springer, Yancy and Valentine in the backfield. Replacing Poole, Rodriquez and Leinweber on the line and Lemonds at fullback is a concern, but if those holes can be filled along with Jones at one tackle and Bogan at a guard spot, I'd look for this offense to be just as good as last year's, if not better -- especially if they can add a consistent passing element to their trademark veer option package. There are a few more holes to fill on defense, and the secondary must improve or pass-heavy teams will continue to have a field day, but I still like their chances.

Can they win the region? We'll see. Union City lost a bunch of seniors but they are still Union City. McKenzie lost the franchise QB, so I think they are a solid third-place team in 2006. Clearly, it should come down to LC or UC. Only 57 days until we find out!
