As good as DB is and as much as I like them. It would be interesting to see if they could get past Ooltewah to go to state

I agree, Oolteway could be a huge problem for them and i'm actually picking Ooltewah for this one, should they meet.

D-B fans are high on their team this year and rightly so, but to claim that title, you have to go thru a lot more than their conference and a down Oak Ridge team to get it. The conference was weak this year, with only Bearden having a better than usual year. Sevier is ok, but relies on one player to bail them out too often which will hurt in the playoffs. D-B has yet to be tested and that's relevant because they've given up lots of yards to some lesser teams this year and also struggled against some very middle of the road teams.

We'll see what happens but State Champs? I say not this year.

I don't think anyone "claimed" a title...merely asking if the Tribe has what it takes which is only someones opinion since they will actually decide the championship on the field. And that conference champ thing with a win over a down Oak Ridge didn't seem to stop the Owls from storming the field Friday against the Wildcats. Db won the OR game with a healty Gulmire at QB and held them to 3 points until the final 2 minutes of the game against the 3rd team D. Who has DB supposedly given up "lots of yards" to? They've shut down most of the teams they have played so I'm not sure what game you are referring to. And the most any opponent has scored on them is 13 by Sevier County.

To say they haven't been tested contradicts what the schedule strength says (per coacht)...DB 27th vs Ooltewah 38th. You can analyze schedules all day and say that 1-5a was "weak"...but the 2-5A #2 did lose badly to a 4A team, Knox Central. That same 4A was beaten by the 1-5A #3, Bearden (the only other loss by Central is to Maryville). But that is only opinion. What are Ooltewah's big wins?

Don't get me wrong...I'm not handing DB or anyone the golden ball but they have as mucha chance as anyone.

Yes, but you could also say that that same Bearden team that D-B was fortunate to barely beat 10-6 was handled rather easily by Farragut 27-14, who is also the team that lost to 4A Central who in turn lost to Bearden. You can't really go by so in so beat so in so, who beat so in so, so we're better than so in so. It doesn't work that way. Having said that, I think D-B is maybe slightly stronger than Ooltewah, but if the game is at Ooltewah, then D-B could go down. As a whole, from top to bottom Region 2 is just a little bit stronger than Region 1, that's just all there is to it.

Dobyns Bennett will have to go through Ooltewah to make it to the boro, and I don't think that will happen. Ooltewah is havin a great season and will be tough to beat, especially if they have to play them at The Nest.

Actually they will probably just hit I-81 then take I-40W. that should take them right into the "boro".

D-B has no real threat to their championship bid from regions 1&2. Region 2 was as weak as any region in the state this year any team from that region making it to round three is not likley I predict that game will be between two region 1 teams. If a region 2 team makes it to that game it's a no-brainer for the Tribe. Not sure about the teams in Regions 3 & 4 but I will be by the time that game happens. The tribe seems to be peaking at the right time so at this time I expect them to be in the Boro in December.

Now i hope your a Maryville fan, because if your a South Rebel fan, then youve found a way to lose to DB the past 13 years.

Actually I do like maryville's program but i'm a rhea county grad so I really don't have a dog in the south vs DB slaughters. I saw Ooltewah destroy my old high school the first week of the season and the night before I saw DB destroy South since I happened to be in the area, and the comparsion I got from the two games is Ooltewah is a little bit better.

But when the time comes for Ooltewah and DB to meet. It will be a collision of the two biggest 5A schools in East Tennessee.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
