As always, only exception being after their first game with Marion Co. It's at GV this year.

yea, we have played them something like 60 years in a row now, I remember my sophomore year(2000-2001 school year) they had mad shirts showing the years we played and the results...

but I don't know what the streak is other than SC has beaten us 8 some odd years in a row. Haven't beaten SC since 1998(my 8th grade year :thumb: )

Shizzle, is Smith Co. still on G-vill's 07 schedule ?

yes, and we still take on SC in week 1, but we are just playing a week 0 this year...

not really...Gordonsvlle was no ones favorite...

and I don;t know how ya'll are leaving out Friendship...

they are the best team in 1A(JCS moved up, so they step right in) and until someone in 1A beats them, they remain the best...

Do you think FCS will be as good in '07 as they were this year...I don't. Last year's preseason favorite was FCS for the following reasons:

1. People believed that TC couldn't repeat because they were losing a lot of key players.

2. FCS played TC better than anyone else and they weren't losing many players.

It turns out that that was a pretty good pick. If we use that same logic, I come up with the following:

1. JCS won't repeat because they move to 2A.

2. Fayette Academy was the only 1A team to beat JCS last year. FA loses 8 seniors (including Mr. Football Cole Trim), returns 11 juniors. That makes them a "possible favorite".

3. The next closest game JCS played was against Trinity Christian (28 to 26). TCA loses 8 seniors, returns 15 juniors. That makes them a "possible favorite".

4. Lake Co. lost to JCS by 5 but they lose 12 seniors and return only 6 juniors. I don't see them competing.

5. That leaves FCS who lost to JCS by 6. FCS loses 10 seniors and returns 7 juniors.

The oddball is Gordonsville. Gordonsville played FCS extremely close but FCS wasn't the champ. Gordonsville loses 7 seniors and returns 14 juniors. My odds-on-favorite would be Gordonsville. We all know Region 4 is the strongest. On paper, Gordonsville looks to be the strongest team in Region 4. So I say the strongest team in the strongest region is the favorite. All of the other teams that appear to be favorites have no history of being strong so it’s kind of a toss-up. All I can say is it's going to be real interesting. 1A football has gone through two major changes in its history: the move from 3 classes to 5 and the multiplier rule. The 5 classes change saw TC and SP take control early on then the privates took over. The multiplier change has produced another TC championship and another private championship. If history repeats, I see another Gordonsville/SP championship followed by another TC championship, followed by the privates taking over again errrr finding a new way to “compete”. Sorry I got of subject a little. My hope is that a public school from West Tennessee wins a championship…it’s be nearly 20 years (1989-Bruceton) since that has happened.

listen to Jim Rome much??

very interesting post, but myentire point is everyone writing off FC like they will fall off the face of the earth. Not that that is a bad thing  but I just don't think it willl happen, and as you can tell from my sig. I am not an FC supporter, just trying to get some insight asto why everyone was writing them off...

I listen to him every once in a while but he gets on my nerves most of the time. The reason most people are writing FCS off is because they held too high of an expectation for them this past year. Most people thought that they would be about as good as TC in '05. When they lost to JCS, a lot of their “aura” was lost as well. The bottom line is that the '05 TC team was the type of team that comes around once every 10-15 years. It was great that FCS played TC close in '05 but that was '05. Looking ahead to ’07…it’s easy to pick teams like Gordonsville, TCA, etc. However, there’s really no way for any of us to know how well some of the incoming underclassmen are going to play in the upcoming season. You take TC for instance; they had something like 11 sophomores on their team this year. Who’s to say those guys won’t step up next year as juniors and win it all and then turn around in ’08 and do it again? That’s the only problem I see with picking preseason favorites: there’s no way of truly knowing how the new guys are going to step up. All I know is that my team (Jo Byrns) will have 12 seniors and 15 juniors next year so hopefully those guys will step up and take it to the house!

  • 3 weeks later...

it's gunna be just like 2 years ago and nobody is gunna know anything bout union city and we're gunna be very good and lake county doesnt return anything at all and mckenzie doesnt return anything but a qb and a center off their whole offense so idk how they can be in the preseason top 10, region 7-1a should be fought out between us and bruceton

    • I think you’re referring to Corbin. That year Corbin went 14-2, losing the state championship to Boyle County. I believe Boyle County has been nationally ranked a few times so obviously they’re no trashy team. Corbin doesn’t sound like a bad football team to me, especially being how Boyle County is 12 time state champions and usually barely knocks Corbin out. That year tho I think Boyle beat them by a few but still a state appearance. I also think that Alcoa game went to OT but I’m not quite for sure. Alcoa is a legit program, just take a couple years ago for example, the 32nd best ranked team in New York came down to Alcoa (not quite sure what they were thinking) and got absolutely pummeled 44-6. Alcoa has beat good teams, they’re not playing nobodies.
    • You haven seen much football if the Blackman vs Bowling Green game u speak of is the worst officiated game you have ever seen.  Everyone on here swears Blackman was cheated, but i just can not agree.  Rewatched it on youtube, and there are a couple Blackman fans near the camera that out to be ashamed of the crap that came out of there mouths.  I dont know much about Blackman, but i didnt get a very good impression of them having much class by there entrance to the field, and instead of running on to there sideline running to the other teams sideline to cut them off when they went to run to there sideline.  Then before much is even happened in the game fans near the camera swearing they are being cheated.  Seemed like a fairly good called game till Blackman started losing there composure.  Embarassing hearing the blacmn fans making fun of someone on the other team possibly getting hurt, and calling players on the other team a dumbass.  The reason they lost thatgame was because they gave that necarious fant kid a 5 yard cushion over, and over, and over, and everytime he would catch it and get another 7 after the catch.  3rd or 4th and 1 lets give the best player on the other team a 5 yard cusion, and let him catch it when we need a stop even though he has gotten 12 yards on that play repeatedly.  Then the last touchdown on 4th down was a completly different play, but great throw, and great route and catch by fant for the last td they did not defend it very well, and it would have been a blackman win if they make that 4th, and long stop, but they didnt cover the best player on the field very well, and he caught it with the closest player 3 yards away from him.  Just give Bowling Green credit for making the plays to win.  We look stupid constantly saying they got cheated.  They straight up got beat, but no shame, bowling Green had a heck of a team.  People just dont want to give any credit to the other team when they are beat especially when its out of state.  Ive talked alot of crap to fans of kentucky teams, but we get ridicilous too often on here.  I remember the Union City fans saying how they would run it down the other teams throat playing a kentucky team.  They claimed we will run it up the middle all night, and those early 3 yard gains will turn into 12 yard gains by the 4th quarter cause thats how we always wear other teams down, and always win.  They proceded to get there #### whooped 2 years in a row then dropped that team from there schedule, and i have to give those kentucky fans credit they called it before the first year they played.  They said we will beat Union City these 2 years, and they will not renew because Union City has done this in the past before.  Went to one of those games, and the other team ran defensive lineman in every few plays, and by the 4th quarter it was union city that was wore out, and there rushing game failed late.  Instead of giving the other team credit for stopping there run game late they cried that we was gassed after bragging that we always gas the other team out by the 4th they couldnt handle that another team smartly threw fresh bodies in most of the night, and kept there starters much fresher for late in the game.  They basically put backups in on half the plays, and settled with giving up alot of yards to keep the 1s fresh for the 4th.  Instead of giving them credit the excuses came well we where gassed if we would have played later in the season we would have won its hot, and early in the year, so thats why we lost its all just excuses.  It aint like there is a rule that says UC couldnt rotate some in on there oline, and rotate a couple running backs so there starters would b fresh for the end.  They got beat because the other team smartly used depth, plus they couldnt stop the other teams offense.  We cant give credit to the other team when we lose we must find an excuse mentality espececially if its an out of state team there is no way anyone from another state in paticular kentucky can be as good or better than us.  After just watching that Blackman game they just straight up got beat.
    • What’s sad Barney is the cards in the deck are stacked against them.  With the success the MAVS are having just down I-75, any talented players are heading that way. I always said what the Price twins did there was second to none, making the playoffs and winning a playoff game is the ceiling there. On a great year, maybe a q-final appearance but that is a big stretch.  Finding a coach there is very tough. I feel for the new coach, he’s in a very bad situation and I’m not sure he even realizes it. I understand he wants to be positive and have hope, but I don’t see them scratching a win. Maybe he will prove me wrong.
    • I agree, 2A is the only class in thet state where the west side of the bracket is tougher, not taking anything away from Marion county at all but they should run that side for years to come
    • Should be a big week in Dayton coming up with the 100th anniversary of the Scopes Monkey Trial.
