If anyone picks Hillsboro to win they are a fool. Hillsboro shouldn't even show up. This will be a run away. A little adivce....don't let number 2 touch the ball....then you might have a chance.

Maryville 35 Hillsboro 13

Maples vs. Eric Gordon will be one fine matchup. GOrdon can go step for step with Maples. but he can be overaggresive. he'll get at least two pass interferences.

hahahaha yeah okay. Have you seen maples play? Just get ready.

Remember the last time these two met? 2002 finals, both teams undefeated. Hillsboro, led by current TSU running back Calvin Bryant, dominated the first half and it looked like they were gonna walk away with it. However, Maryville never let up and ended up coming back to win that game.

Many people have labeled Maryville the best team in the entire state. Hillsboro is definately the underdog here, but they definately have a serious chance to win it. I think Hillsboro will avoid repeating history and take this one.

Hillsboro 21

Maryville 10

It always amazes me how people will pick their team to beat or blow out another team that they have never seen play or know very little about or use 2 to 3 year old history as their base for their prediction. I am pulling for Hillsboro to win the game and have seen them play and know their region competition very well. I have not seen Maryville play but do know their long history of success. I know to get this far in the season; they are a very good team but the same has to be said for Hillsboro. To make a prediction of a 3-4 TD win (35-13 and 45-14) by Maryville people is very arrogant and I sincerely hope that these people do not have close contact with Maryville's players; as such arrogance could rub off on these young men and cost them the game. That would be a shame. I look forward to a good game and hopefully a Hillsboro win. I know that Hillsboro is VERY capable of winning this game but I am not arrogant enough to make rash predictions. I also know that to beat Maryville; Hillsboro must bring their A game; as must Maryville to beat Hillsboro; No-matter which team wins; both should be proud of what they accomplished this year.

I wouldn't worry about what a few fans say. They are just fans and many are not even associated with Maryville, just highschool football fans. The players......they know what the challenge will be because they have been there before. No team makes it to the state and are undefeated without being solid and very good. I expect the Hillsboro and Maryville match up to be a battle with the very athletic and good size Hillsboro matching their witts with a well coached but less athletic Maryville bunch. It's that way every year and I don't expect the differences to vary any this year.

Good luck to both teams ...........

I couldnt have said it better myself. I am not pulling for either side really; I just want to see a really good game. This looks to be a very good match up I think. Everyone keeps saying how great Maryville is.........well this may be the best Hillsboro team that Maryville has seen over the course of the last serveral years b/c of its balance. I understand if your team is in it you want your team to win by as much as possible and get up big early so you can relax. But I really believe that this one is gonna be a dandy.

As stated previously not many Maryville folks on here are predicting anything. Hillsboro has been picked by 14 by one and 11 by another and no one came unglued over that. I don't think anything said on this website warrants an entire fan base being labeled arrogant.

Film has been broken down by the coaches by now so they and the players know exactly the challenge that lies ahead. Maryville did not get where they currently are by ever assumming anything or overlooking anyone. Everyone outside of Blount County will want Maryville to lose. We are use to it.

Good luck to both teams.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
