Question for 1A fans that want a split

Recommended Posts

Who put out TC this year......? Small, predominantly rural county, no other school detracts from their enrollment, good coach, players buying into his system,......! The fact that TC gets everyone in their county to choose from certainly makes them a bit unique, wouldn't you say? :D I'm not certain there is another county in the state that doesn't have at least two high schools inside its boundaries. TC has a good opportunity to remain competitive every year for that reason alone, but they aren't gonna be able to plug a weak spot if they get one like Tenn Temple did so well this past year. Only problem Temple is gonna have is they have too many holes for even them to overcome next season. :thumb: Poor recruiting management if you ask me! ;)

And Trousdale is not unique in being a county with one school at all, , can think of several, Perry, Lewis, Houston, Stewart, Moore, Lake, Decatur, ...that is just the ones in 1 or 2A that I can think of in middle and west TN. so that is not the reason Trousdale is so good at football, those schools all run the gamut from good to weak in football. Stability in the coaching staff and support of the community seems to be the reasons in my book. And football is probably harder to keep up at that sort of level

I got it! Revenue sharing!!!!!

It works in the NFL, why not the TSSAA? This way, you can take all the money that those rich ol' private schools makes at a football game PLUS stab those wealthy schools too to redistribute the money to the poorer schools!

Facilities could be upgraded, poorer schools could afford more coaches, and the playing field could be evened out! Heck, if worse comes to worse, put a luxury tax on teams that have more than 30 kids tryout for football in order to make it fair!

Thats actually not a bad Idea , Lets do that then watch all those rich ole private schools cry because they can no longer afford to pay 15 coaches and maintain golf course quality turf on their practice fields. I'm waiting to see the 1A private with artificial playturf on their field that hollers they have no more money than any small public. that stuff only costs 250,000$

The schools would simply hide the money. At this year's GP/Milan game, Milan wasn't giving out the TSSAA tickets at entry. But, they were certainly taking the $7 ticket price form everyone who walked through the gate.

:thumb: That's the best post I've seen on here in a while! Socialism in high school football, I never thought I'd see it!

The kicker is that old24eagle thinks it's a good idea.

FYI - most of the "15 coaches" (which is way overstated) are volunteers at the small 1A privates. :thumb:

There isn't a single 1A private with fieldturf. ;)

In fact, if you have the stomach to browse through most of the FCS playoff threads ... you will find that most slammed FCS's lackluster football facilities. I can go on and on about the rest of the small privates ... Boyd has a swamp ... DCA's smells funny with the river right behind it ... with Ezell you take your life in your hands driving through the HH area ... etc.

At this point I wished the small public schools would leave the TSSAA and start their own association exluding all private schools. Let the TSSAA have the privates.

I see you didn`t bother to answer the topic question. Maybe that`s just because you simply don`t like privates. Or maybe it`s because you see a school like Trousdale that has been proving for years on end that small rural schools can actually take on and beat private schools and it just totally destroys your complaints about private school advantages.

What kind of facilities does your school have?

If your talking about Friendship Christian , their practice field is in better shape than what we play on , and as I've said earlier we have better fascilities than everyone else in our region other than the one private in our region thats played ball for three years now.

I'm done see ya.

    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
    • Looks like Trent Noah was released from his NLI at South Carolina with intent to pursue playing closer to home. Kentucky and Louisville both reported to be in the mix for him now.
