The question is does this one matter as much as the one possible in a couple of weeks? Hence last year. the same scenerio is shaping up for the same district semifinals if Gibson beats Dyersburg tonight. Only the seedings are different this year than last.

They all matter....

The new region sites have lessened the chance for upsets, as what happened last year with Westview losing early in region play. It makes winning your district even more important. Who will have the toughest gym to be the visitor in in the region tournament and when does the tournament come to a common site to play? Why the change?

Well the day is finally here. The four teams most expected to be in this scenario when the season started but not many people thought Milan would be first and Dyersburg coming out of the 4 spot. I doubt if many had Westview as high as 2 either. Seems like most had Obion and Dyersburg as the certainties to be here. Listening on the radio Tuesday night it sounded like Dyersburg played like the team most of you have been expecting all year. It's going to be a great night of basketball.

Milan may start out a little rusty after having a week layoff as the Lady Trojans seem to be back to playing the brand of basketball that Coach Coffman has wanted to see all season Really wouldn't be that big of a SHOCK if D'burg upsets the Lady Bulldogs.. We'll see how much the sickness has bothered Poston if any at all. Milan is more athletic and this game may come down to can the D'burg guards handle the Milan defensive pressure

In the nightcap- well- FLIP A COIN?? Westview won both regular season meetings including coming back from a 15 points deficit at OCCHS in late January.

Both teams have had injuries down the stretch(Thomas- knee for Westview) and OC (Baldwin-out-ACL) and Roney still recovering from the ankle injury suffered in the Milan game back in January. Rechis and Owens are outstanding perimeter shooters and playing on their home floor will be a factor. OC hasn't shot the ball particularly well at Westview in the regular season and in the opening round game.

The Lady Rebels MUST make defensive stops and create turnovers if they want to punch their ticket to the 13AA finals on Saturday..

Should be two classic matchups-- State tournaments in Mid-FEBUARY?? That could be the atmosphere this evening

Should be very exciting night, and I plan to make the trip down to Martin as this could be one of the better nights of Girls BB you will see anywhere. My hope is that all four teams bring their A game, because if they do, both games have the potential to be great. Predictions are only as good as the paper their wrote on, but if all play to their potential, I would expect Obion and Milan to win. However .......

And then there four......and funny thing is it is the four that most everyone expected. In tonight's opener Milan and Dyersburg, this should be a real battle. D'burg could very well pull what some would call an upset, as they seem to be playing well at the right time. Should be a good one. And then the nightcap, OC will try to get some payback for two of their regular season losses when they square off with Westview. The injury to Thomas for the 'view is something to watch, as well as the injury to Ashley Baldwin for OC, and the still recovering Jana Roney for OC. Defensive pressure will go along way in getting a win in this one. Both teams have good shooters, and someone better get a hand in their face. Three top ten teams in the state on the floor tonight in the 13AA tournament, Here's lookng for a BIG crowd, and two GOOD games to see who makes the finals.

Based strictly on the way all three teams played their first round, I would pick Dyersburg & Westview for the championship Saturday with Milan coming in 3rd and OC fourth....for some reason, OC hates playing at the "View" and Milan has been playing down the last couple of games......again, that's assuming Dyersburg can play as well or better than they did against GC and "home court advantage" helps Westview...

Should be a couple of great games!!!
