I also agree the fans make a difference. On the field you can hear the fans. I really don't care where I sit at the game because I plan on standing proud and loud cheering on the Pirates regardless. Good luck to both teams....... and fans.I also agree the fans make a difference. On the field you can hear the fans. ...Maybe we can get SP to join Region 3-2A...you wouldn't have to travel that far...only two trips to Chatt and maybe only once per year...all of the crowds would be 'big'!!!(just a thought)

Do you realize that there are only about 10 public schools with football teams in TN smaller than SP? SP has 7-12 and it gives the illusion of being a bigger school. Its not uncommon for freshmen to be major contributers on the field. There are years when the Pirates have beat up on bigger schools like they did to Region 3-2A this year. There are others when they just don't have enough players for the depth required. I can remember years when Ken Colquit was whining about only fielding 65 players at Jasper. I like orange and black icing on my muffins.

That's hard to believe. Aren't there 4 schools in Chattanooga smaller than SPitt (Grace, SD, Temple, David B.)?

That is correct, but his point was just the public schools. Not all schools in 1A.

There are actually 14 Public schools that play football that are smaller than South Pittsburg. Click me to find out who they are!

Silverdale keeps it close to halftime. But after halftime the Pirates pull away and win by 21.

People please try to keep in mind that S.Pitt beat Boyd 47-7 and had the mercy rule in effect. The Pirates are the best single a team in the state, and NO ONE in our 3-1A can compete with them. Their closest region game to date is 41-6, and in that game they held a very good LV team to 10 yards rushing in the first half. By saying SBA can stay within 4 touchdowns of S.Pitt. is saying SBA would beat Boyd. That also would not happen. Nothing against SBA, but they just aren't in that class. Bigger, faster, stronger athletes. If you want a comparison, think of this. Grace beat Silverdale 58-46. Boyd beat Grace 37-7 and had the mercy rule running. S.Pitt had the mercy rule in effect on Boyd, and dominated them in every aspect of the game. S. Pitt is scary good, and they should already have a place waiting in the trophy case for the gold ball.

Quit making excuses for losing to Grace. They played without three starters and they are not on here saying how they should have beat you by 30 or more if they would have played. Yes Silverdale had tons of rushing yards refer back to Grace was without 3 starters. Even with an injured QB you still could not stop Grace. Part of playing football is not giving up big plays and they could not keep Grace from doing that. So they lost, Quit making excuses. Yes Grace was beat by Boyd 37-7. No excuses! SP hasn't whiped Grace because they haven't played yet. If it happens there will be no excuses. Injuries are part of football so except that and that Silverdale got beat by Grace because Grace is the better team because they can make the big plays.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
