Herbstreit Classic is the same week as the Alcoa game. There is no way Maryville would drop Alcoa for the Herbstreit Classic. Now if the new regions is the same as Basketball William Blount and Heritage will be region games. With Maryville always playing Alcoa there should be 2 openings. I hope Maryville can play someone like MBA,Riverdale or another powerhouse.

MBA, BA, or Ensworth would be my preference if Maryville were to play a traditional powerhouse from Middle TN for a non-region game. Riverdale wouldn't provide a ton of excitement now because Aydelott will likely just get outcoached by George Quarles again.

Great game MBA! Ya'll have a very disciplined and smart football team. For the second consecutive year, HHS has lost by five points to MBA due to missed opportunities and mental mistakes. I agree that this game should somehow be a yearly game again. Good luck to ya'll the rest of the season!

Tonight represented everything good about HS football.

Hats off to both teams on a hard fought neighborhood game played the way it should be played.

These were two good teams that should play for the title in their respective classifications. For all of us that like to bicker about public/private, these were two evenly matched teams. There were some serious hits tonight on both sides of the ball. #3 for the Burros is the real deal. There was another receiver/back that was impressive as well; he scored on a screen in the third.

MBA was not as powerful as what I was expecting. There was not a lot of push up front; I saw the big tackle get a good pancake about 15 yards downfield once, but typically it seemed to be more about engaging and staying engaged. Hillsboro was quick and filled nicely against the run. Actually, both D-lines seemed to play well and dictate the pace. MBA placed a lot of pressure on the QB early, but the QB got rid of the ball quicker in the 2nd half.

I hated that either team had to lose tonight. I was very proud of both programs.

Excellent post, although I would disagree with your contention that MBA is not as powerful as you expected. If you read my posts, you know I'm a bit biased, but I think a lot of what looked deficient about MBA comes down to a very good opponent. Hillsboro has a lot of good athletes, and they are very well coached. They showed a lot of resilience: it would have been very easy to fold the tent midway thru the 2nd quarter. And if not then, certainly late in the 4th with the Nutkis interception.

I know very little about the Hillsboro coach. but I admire him for scheduling this game, and convincing his team that they could compete with MBA. He reminds me of the coaches in the old NIL who relished a game with MBA.

Again, an excellent night of football.

While I would love to see Maryville play either BA or MBA, or one of the out of state powers (because I think they would represent Tennessee very well), one of the Maryville posters explained their schedule in a way that made good sense: 6 region games, 3 county games mandated by the school board (probably to insure that everybody has sufficient revenue to support the non-revenue sports), and Alcoa, whom you've been playing since somebody gave one of you a football.

Some of you may get one of your wish next year with the new reallignment........

BigRedDad - As classy as MBA posters are, I guess there has to be one in every bunch. Don't give your team a bad name.

As for this game - Sounds like a whale of a game to see.

what a game. wish my team would've come on top but im proud. Star Lineman for the burros Christian Heyne didn't play and that hurt us on the line on both sides. and whoever said corey jordan played your wrong he didnt. alex crutcher may not play all season. get MRI results back soon. but hats off to MBA and the to the way hillsboro kept fighting

Don't know how Ensworth got in the mix.

My apologies, Ensworth wouldn't be my preference beause of their "traditional powerhouse" reputation, but rather because they have a lot of talent over there and are pretty well coached. Either way, MBA and BA are basically the only tradtional powerhouses in TN that Maryville could excite me with by scheduling at this point. Those matchups would be classic matchups, not much different from HHS-MBA the last two years.
