I would expect to see Coach Norris open up the offense a bit this week. We should see the usual running game amounting for 75% of the play calling, but I have a feeling Coach Norris will let his Offensive Coordinator, Jeremy Harris (son of the late Coy Harris), get a little creative with the play calling. Don??™t forget that North does line up in the spread from time to time, with #7 Eric Pearcy moving from the running back position to quarterback. We may see a trick play as well (ex. @ Sullivan East, running a reverse on 4th and 2 in your own territory, gaining the first down). Again, should be a dandy to watch.

Hey Cap, you have explained all the other games. Why no explanation of the Unicoi County game???????

Classic example of taking a very capable team too lightly. I stand by my statement that D.W. Whitson has the best arm in the conference and Headley is a fierce competitor and a great complement to Whitson??™s arm. Unicoi took the lead and the momentum early??¦we were just able to wear them down with numbers.

From tricitiessports.com article "Raiders Keep Impressing: Blevins Named Player of the Game" by Billy Dixon:

'Despite the great start and the deserved No. 9 ranking in the Associated Press state polls, we still don??™t know what to expect out of this team. We find that out this week and in the four weeks to follow.

The Raiders have beat Tennessee High one time in school history. They??™ve not played every year, but often enough to make the one a point of contention and concern.

The Vikings do not appear to be as good as they have been in the recent past, but make no mistake ??“ they are still a formidable opponent. If the Raiders can walk out of the Stone Castle with a victory this week, they will not only virtually cement a playoff spot for the first time since joining the 4A Mountain Lakes Conference, but will also silence the nay-sayers who point at North??™s weak schedule.

Tennessee High will be the only team so far capable of standing toe-to-toe with North from an athletic standpoint. The key to the contest will likely come down to a couple of intangibles. Can the Raiders overcome history to beat a team they have failed against so many times? And will their tenacity and blood and guts approach be enough in a very tough stadium in which to play?

The answers to those questions can??™t be determined on a practice field or during a pre-game pep talk. The Raiders staff will take care of those things. From a standpoint of preparation the coaches will have them ready. As for the rest, we??™ll find out Friday night.

???Things are about to get a lot harder,??? said Norris, referring to the second half of the season schedule. ???We can??™t control that. All we can do is play to the best of our ability and, win or lose, work to get better every week.???'

No??¦tell the truth??¦you hope, wish, and dream North can pull this out. I told one of the coaches that they should make all the North player produce a picture ID (with current address included) before the game Friday. The way yall shuffle players around Kingsport (between North, South, and DB) you never know. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I guess we could say the same about Tennessee High's schedule in the coming weeks too, save Sullivan Central, though the Vikings have had a tough go of it up to this point schedule wise.

Tennessee High's Remaing Schedule

Oct. 3 Sullivan North

Oct. 10 @ Johnson Co.

Oct. 17 Elizabethton

I don??™t think the Vikings can pencil in a W on any of the remaining teams on our schedule this year including Central. The competition in the MLC is closer this year then in any resent year. But I don??™t think we could be considered underdogs against any except South. That is if we continue to beat our conference opponents.

Tennessee High must win 4 out of their next 5 games if they want to host a playoff game. This year it's easier said than done. I don't think Tennessee High is a solid favorite in any of their remaining games with the exception of Sullivan Central, although I'm sure the Cougars won't be a walk in the park either.

Tennessee High will be the toughest team North will face thus far. They will run and score on the Vikings, but I predict that Tennessee wins.

Looking back to the Unicoi vs. Tennessee High football game, I felt like it would be all down hill for the Vikings. Reason being, I saw was a lot of fustration and confusion displayed by the players and coaches. To explain the fustration, the Vikes eximplified the usual....delay of game, using valuable time getting the plays in, movement (off sides) from the front line etc. With this being said, I saw several of the THS players showing their fustration by mouthing at the opponents and, suprisingly, with each other. However, the positive aspects of the game was the play calling. THS, in several instances, showed they would and could go for the big play by putting the ball in the air and down field. Kudo's for the play caller. Moving forward to the Science Hill game, though THS took a pretty good "whipping" it seemed the players were more focused and the play calling continued to test the vunerabilities of the defense from the "big" play perspective. In addition, the motivation of the players was obvious, especially in the first half. The down side, as I have seen in several post, is the fact that there are no "playmakers" on the field. If in fact they are on the field, THS is not getting the ball in their hands. There is a HUGH need to get the opponents down and get them down early instead of fighting back late in the games. The fact of the matter is, if THS can strike early by putting points on the board and getting the opponents down, they have the ability to control the clock better then any team in the conference. This has been proven by their ability to run the ball and eat up up the clock. In a n earilier post, I made the statement "the product on the field is not getting it done". I think this was taken wrong. Let me explain....

Wide receivers: There is no YAC (yards after catch) it seems they catch the ball falling down, in addition, several drops.

Return specialist: No threat of breaking the big play...fair catch the ball and wait on the offense to do their thing...most of the time just let the ball

roll to a stop. When returned, no ability/potential to break it big.

Defensive Backs: No big hitters thus making opponents cough up the ball creating turnovers. No ability to close quickly on the ball to create

"oskies".

I could go on but I think you get the point. These statements are by no means negative statements against towards the players on the field. I am sure these players are playing to the best of their abilities, and more importantly, playing with heart. However, as you have seen, THS can not win the big ones. I am merely saying find the guy/s who can make big plays and put the ball in their hands. If they are not there....Good Luck vs. the rest of the season. To the coaches...and I know you will agree....It is a lot easier to execute and call plays when you are up by a couple of touchdowns!!!
