The sad thing is is that is how its been at Cookeville over the last few years. They play at home but still can't seem to get the calls at home like most teams do. Do the refs have something against Cookeville or something? I've never seen anything like it in all the years i've watched basketball.

{R}siegelgrad{R} won't agree with you. He thinks siegel gets shafted when they paly at Cookeville.

Have to give credit to Blackman. They probably played as good as they could play against a much, much, bigger more talented team in Siegel. It looked like a college team against a middle school team but the smaller Blackman team hung with Siegel for the whole game. The game was in doubt until the last couple of minutes. No disrepect to Siegel as I don't see how Siegel can't be in the State playoffs with a good chance to win the state, but you were outhustled and outplayed by little Blackman last night. DeShawn Smith had a heck of a game with 26 points and five 3 pointers.

But lets be real, thats a crock on cookeville not getting calls at home, reallll funny joke, your girls dont cuz the girls coach for cookeville is a straight b*tch, that being said Coach Bush for Siegel got a T up there because the refs were screwing us so bad and Coach Bush never loses his temper. As for the blackman game, I feel as if Blackman was outmatched from the get go and Siegel knew it. Though the 3 point party kept it close I feel as if Siegel knew what they had to do and when they had to do it to win against the Blaze from what Ive heard. I do appreciate the State hype and saying we have a good chance to win state, but Siegel is going to have to start succedding in the half court more if they even want to make state. Any team can hold a team from running to an extent.

I dont know what you saw in Cookeville, but its no different than what I have seen anywhere else. Where their some iffy calls? Of course, but nothing with intent to affect the outcome. BTW, that "straight B" that you so classlessly referred to is one of the best coaches in middle tennessee, mens or womens. Give some respect and you might, just might, be shown some in return

I disagree with part of this statement. Siegel needs to keep playing their style of basketball if they try to change up to fit somebody else's game thats what going to get them beat. If/when they get to the substate they will be playing someone from the chattanooga are so that will be an uptempo game which is siegel's style of play, when they get to the stat tournament all of the memphis teams run and gun so Siegel will no thave to change up anything. I dont think a team that is an uptempo team should be trying to play half court basketball if they are not used to doing that

Very much true, but eventually Siegel is going to run into a team down the road that can do both well, and for any coach worth his salt, it is pretty obvious how you attack Siegel. I will say that I think Siegel and region 4 will have a easy go of it, as I think region 3 is pretty weak this year.

As much as I hate to admit I agree with you about region 3, and as far as coaches I would put Randy King into that category I wonder who else would you put into that category that you speak of

How does everyone think this Siegel team compares to the one a few years back? From what I have seen this team doesn't get within 15 points of the team a few years ago.

that team was huge and athletic its hard to say

You mean in terms of being able to play both a halfcourt and an up-tempo game. I really dont think it is earth shattering, good to great coaches adapt to their talent as opposed to forcing a certain philosophy down their throat. In 06-07, a big part of Oakland's success was pushing the ball up the floor, so I think its nice to know that if Oakland needs to go toe to toe with certain opponents, that they certainly are capable of doing as such.

As for Region 3, Walker Valley certainly looks good on paper, but I think they have padded their record to a degree.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
