Something smells funny. Maryville was the biggest 4A school in the state the last four to six years, and they always seemed to squeeze into Class 4A by less than 10 students. I also noticed they had an administrator on the TSSAA board. Were they able to work out a deal to stay in 4A as long as they could? If so, this is not right and should be investigated.

2 things that has hurt Maryville's schedule is William Blount is 0-7 and Central isn't the same team they used to be. Central used to be the best team Maryville played before they went to Murfreesboro. No team during the 69 game winning streak has given Maryville more fits offensively that the Zac Helton led Central Bobcats. Those Bobcat teams were loaded. Here are some studs that played for those Great Central teams.

Terrence Scott Starting receiver for Oregon

David Gaston

Robert Longmire

 

In 2003 Central not only had those guys. They had Cassen Jackson,Lee Smith and Baron Huber.

 

Both William Blount and Central had better teams in the past.

 

Those central teams were loaded, but baron Huber and lee smith played for Powell

Baron Huber and Lee Smith played for Central in 2003. Both of them moved and transfered to Powell before the 2004 season started. Huber was a senior in 2004. Lee Smith played at Powell in 2004 and 2005.

Both were still at Central for the 2003 football season. The Smith family moved to Powell and Lee enrolled at Powell High in December of 03 and the Hubers moved in January 04 and Baron enrolled then.
