Heard there was no love lost between Wester and Galyon at the West-Cocke County game last week. Then saw this quote in both the Plain Talk and Tribune....

 

"Championships are won in February, not December," Wester said. "Basketball is a tournament sport.

"No one will remember this game when we beat Morristown West in the district tournament," Wester said. "Promise you; write it down, no one will remember this game when we beat them in the tournament, that's all that matters."

 

Appears Wade isn't looking to make any friends in between Kenny Chesney night and Elvis night and Ice Cream Cone night.

I would hate to think I just po'd a team that thrashed me by 20 some points. Now they'll really be fired up. I can see the smile on Gaylon's face now. His team will not take the Lady Red lightly now that they have a reason to be fired up even more.

How did Gville do at the tourney this weekend?

 

Finished 3rd with one loss to a very good Cherokee GA team who ended up first. Pretty much dominated the other teams. The way the brackets fell we didn't get to play TN High, however we beat Collierville 50 something to 11 and TN High only beat them by 6 or 7. But I don't know how you can really guage that -- Collierville might have just been off and worn out after their drive. (we played them on the first night) We had to play without 2 starters Friday and Saturday, though. Some people really stepped up and some other younger ones really need to. Hopefully, it will all come together at the right time. (this Fri night would be good, lol)

I heard that Jeff was down at the half of their game. How did they come back?

 

 

You heard wrong if you are talking about the Cherokee game....Jeff led 32-23 at the half. Cherokee cut it to five about midway through the third but after that it wasn't close the rest of the way..

 

Perhaps Sportswriters should not qoute coaches until the following day. The fog of war takes a few hours to clear.

      Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?

      Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
