At 36-40 and that time out, Coach Melton about to blow up, DCA (and Coach M) woke up a sleeping giant! After that LA looked like LA! BTW, good morning RR! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Last quarter was as good a quarter as I've seen any team play.(and I've seen two are three teams play in my short life.)............ And a good morning to you 'BigDaddy-1'. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

ramsey- 16 pts 15 reb

dunn 4 pts 10 assist

dekalb-down 9 at half

dc- no players in double figures

dc vs la on the year- 15 pts, 15 pts, and 30.

im thinking a good scrappy game.

I don't think I would be looking in the past for the future or your future might be in the past!!!!

Don't know what LA was thinking during the first 3 quarters.... This was probably a good wake up call for the Wildcats. At this point in the season anyone can beat anyone...

Well I guess sometimes teams get a little complacent, especially playing a team your supposed to handle fairly easy. And sometimes a team with nothing to lose can get real hot and there's nothing you can do. Much like DCA did in the 3rd period. Listening to Craig call the game I thought we were falling apart at the seams. I'm sure it looked even worse than that.

Craig mentioned it over the radio that they had the score wrong starting the 4th and that took several minutes, he thought that gave our boys a chance to re-group and get our heads back in the game. And I'd say he was right on with that assessment. How does a team get that hot in a quarter and score only 3 points in the next and that a last desperation 3 at the buzzer? Go figure

I'll agree with you that at this point in the season anyone can beat anyone. And if you don't bring it every game every game it could be your last.

Here we are playing Dekalb for the 4th time. It's hard to just flip the switch on when you need to play. Last night we flipped the switch on DCA and won the game but that might not happen the next time out.

Give me a break!! You are blinded by the color of your teams jersey. If the players are dribbling the ball with someone up on them, they all do it!! Dunn just happens to be quick and can stop extremely fast making it look like he pushed off. He can't help it if the defender falls to the floor.. Oh Tenn. Tech coaching staff must like it.

Wanteddeadoralive.......someone else pointed it out earlier in this thread and I think they're right. TROMO must be from Livingston. Jealousy is keeping him/her up really late or getting him/her up really early. These last two posts were before 4 this morning. It's probably not the color of the jersey blinding TROMO..... its jealousy. He keeps posting that he doesn't want LA to make it back to the state tournament and has given enough clues that its obvious this person is from Livingston. Imagine being that eat up with jealousy, envy, whatever, that instead of taking in a good movie /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> last night or possibly having a date /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> that TROMO wasted money coming to watch another LA win. Keeps pouring money into the LA program hoping to see a loss.

Hey TROMO. You might get some satisfaction out of knowing that LA has already lost twice this year. Dwell on that. You're right. Dunn pushes off sometimes, like most guards do. Tell me. Will you attend TTU games just hoping to see Dunn lose there too? I'm sure you're glad he's got a full scholarship there. Or will you find yourself torn between TTU and LA where Coach Melton has won about 80% of his games. What will you do? And it probably makes you feel better knowing that LA didn't win the state tourney last year. They only made it to the state tournament and finished 30-5. No matter what you say, these kids will always be proud of their accomplishments whether or not your predictions pan out. They are one of the most, if not the most successful groups that have ever played at LA. Nothing you say will change that. You arent' bothering them, your making yourself miserable. And if these kids are what they seem you just motivate them with your insecurities /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> . Do yourself a favor and move on. Pick up a hobby. Learn a trade. Here are some things you might try to help you forget your infatuation with LA boys basketball: basket weaving, poetry, can collecting, stamp collecting, volunteering with the Red Cross, etc. There's an array of activities you could do. Try writing your thoughts in a journal. That might be theraputic. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Surely you can turn all this negative energy into something positive for yourself. We have too much trash on the sides of the roads. Imagine how clean your drive to pick up your next date could be if you just picked up trash or something. You can do this! Say it! "I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I think I can." Oh yeah. Dunn is what 5 foot 8. How big would you have to be to do what he's done. Do you have dreams about having superpowers like that? What would your superhero name be? More jealous than a speeding bullet.....HATERMAN to the rescue!!!!!!!

I'm having a blast, but probably giving you more attention than you deserve. But it does tick me off that these kids and coach Melton work so hard and achieve so much and someone like you has to try to bring them down. Go LA! You deserve everything you've achieved and so much more. Some people are always gonna be miserable and misery loves company.

Take care of business LA. One game at a time. Dekalb is next.

I was a little concerned until after that time out. After that, there was no looking back. The boys pulled it out and will come out strong Tuesday!!

Big Daddy, have a safe trip and I hope all goes well.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.

    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
