Austin East is Fully Reloaded

Austin-East will not get blown out by Alcoa. The Alcoa faithful are delusional, but I guess five consecutive state championships will do that to you.

 

And about the freshmen... Austin-East and Alcoa freshmen where suppose to play last year. After the Austin-East freshmen had played two or three games, Alcoa cancelled.

Most teams cancel Freshman games when teams get into the playoffs. Sometimes that is going to happen, where a team has to cancel a game. I promise that Alcoa would not be the least bit scared of AE. Your glasses seemed to be covered in Columbia Blue and Red.

I would not at all be referring to the Blue lights chasing a few of the players from last years team, nor the few that are still members of this years team.

Austin East is a very strong football program that has a ton of speed and athleticism but they could just never seem to get it done when it counted against either Fulton or Knoxville Catholic in recent years. What in the world is to lead anyone to believe that they will suddenly turn it on and get it done against Alcoa? Alcoa gets the job done in big games. Outside of the 2001 state title season Austin East has always hit that bump in the road in the playoffs.

 

IMO, the football team at Austin East is very similar to middle TN's Pearl Cohn. Lots of speed and tons of athleticism and on a given day good enough to beat anyone.....however also on a given day they could implode at any moment and have the type of game that sees them totally get embarrassed against a team that is much more disciplined and has the talent to compete with them.

 

Austin East would play Alcoa tight but in the second half I would expect the Tornadoes to just have too much discipline and big game experience for them. It would be something like a 28-7 or 28-14 type of game if the 2 teams happen to meet up down the road.....IMHO /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

in a sick sort of way, it's kind of refreshing to see someone talk smack with Alcoa. Although I think I seem to remember a "bit" of smack from Milan before the game.

 

I actually think AE is going to have one of the top teams in 3A this year. But over the last few years, Alcoa has been at a different level than everyone else in their classification. I think last year may have been Alcoa's weekest team over the last several years, and I expect this yr's team to be better.
