Bolivar (26-3) vs. Livingston Acad. (32-2)

Recommended Posts

Crap ya'll. I bet neither coach was dancing in the aisles when they heard the news. This is a game like last years CPA vs Dyer Co. game that would be better off in the semis or finals. Now one of the better teams in the tournament is going to get bounced either way. Chase Dunn vs Rickey Tisdale is one of the better matchups that you'll see in the state tournament.

From a Harpeth fan whose team came within a free throw of going to state and got beat by both LA and Bolivar, there's not that much difference. It should be a great game and ya'll should celebrate that rather than beating on your chests.

The 4th best team there...now thats funny.... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> All year those East Tn teams have been overrated...those bias polls have pumped your head with alot of hot air. You will see who will be the last team standing. Go West Tn teams....

The run and gun style and full court press plays right in the hands of those West Tn teams. They are accustomed to playing that style of basketball. I wish your highly ranked teams from the East try to play that style in the Boro. They will be /motorbike.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":motorbike:" border="0" alt="motorbike.gif" /> back to the East empty handed.... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

Beating chests? Who here is not psyched about this game.. This will be an awesome game everyone knows that. Not much to celebrate when one of the top 2 teams gets knocked out in the first round.

I guess I'd rather read about stats, common opponents, matchups and that kind of stuff rather than this West Tennessee vs East Tennessee crap. Basketball is basketball. It comes down to fundamentals, matchups and discipline.

Maybe Harpeth is the only common opponent, so I'll start:

Livingston Academy impressed me with court awareness, fundamentals, depth and a dynamic couple of guards in Chase Dunn and T.J. Smith plus the big man whose name has escaped me, Devin???. They are well coached and played a schedule to prepare them for this week. They've beaten AAA Clarksville NE, who's also in the state tournament, twice, won the Alex Kessler tournament in Florida, lost to DII champion Ensworth by 1 or 2 and generally did what they were supposed to do with the exception of one loss to district rival Upperman.

Bolivar is as athletic a team as I've seen in AA. They play tough man to man, are well coached and get in your grill with the press or the half court sets. Reaves gets most of the ink but I think Tisdale makes them go. He's a handful to deal with when he's defending and he pushes the ball and gets his teammates involved. A consummate point guard. They've gone through the typical wars in district and region and have a very good basketball IQ.

I don't think there's a nickel's worth of difference between these 2 teams. It's like picking your poison. The Dunn/Tidsdale matchup will be worth the price of admission. I think who hits their free throws wins this one.

Nice post......Thanks for the info. The truth is every team is good at this level. Anything can happen in M'boro. I do know that this was the time slot that Bolivar wanted, Wed at 5. I don't think they really cared who the opponent was. They are all great teams at this point.

Having read this, I would say this is the team that Bolivar didn't want to have to face. A big man, fundamental, depth, etc. Bolivar will probably be ahead early but in the end it will be one and done for the Tigers. But you still have to play the game. If Bolivar gets by this one, they might, I say might win it all.

Papatiger, can you please stop drinking the Bolivar Haterade? I mean, this is like the 7th or 8th thread that I've seen you on in the last 2 weeks downing Bolivar. I know you're mad that we wouldn't put the girls game on the same day as the boys last year, but you're a preacher. Come on man, let the grudge go!

Papatiger can down Bolivar all he wants. My problem with him is that he never actually PICKS A TEAM TO WIN. He just picks Bolivar to lose. Heck, that's easy because 7 out of 8 teams will lose. Man up and pick a winner. Then come back when it's over.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
