I'm sure most folks on these boards thought that Siegel would win over Columbia, but I have to wonder if all this district game not being played talk affected the Stars?

I thought the same thing . They were looking ahead to Riverdale. Shelton blew it .

At least Shelton's team made it to the regional and if I'm not mistaken went from a 3 win team last season to an 11 win team this year. As far as overlooking Columbia, one of Siegel's parents told me this morning that the coaches gave the players a front and back scouting report on Columbia. The entire focus at practice on Monday was on Columbia. Columbia executed last night, Siegel didn't. That happens in every sport at every level. If they played again tonight the result might be different, but there aren't any do-overs. Honestly, very few people would have thought Blackman would have lost to Cookeville 3-0. This is why you play the game. Were they looking ahead to Riverdale? Maybe, but keep in mind Siegel's boys have never been in that position in the post-season. Hopefully they learn from it and will make it back next year in what promises to be a great district. Great season Siegel, best of luck to Riverdale in the finals and sectionals. I know that you will represent the district well.

I hate hearing and hate even more saying it ... two bad calls gave Columbia 2 of their limited chances, and they scored on both of them. We still had to take care of getting the ball cleared on those chances and didn't. /sigh Believe this I didn't hear any of my friends talking much about the Riverdale game we weren??™t looking past Columbia. Had no reason to. Sure we want to beat them BAD but it's not an elimination game. I hope Riverdale goes all the way now!! (stings to say it) Coach Shelton had us only thinking about Columbia with some interesting reports he got from other coaches and when he went to watch the game himself.
