Mitchell is battle tested ( Whitehaven, Melrose (2), and White Station)are premier teams in Memphis, so to play those teams week in and week out, yeah I would say that Mitchell is more than ready !!!

You know highschoolking, some people MIGHT say that being a premier football team in Memphis is the equivalent to being the smartest kid in summer school or the skinniest person at a fat farm. Not me mind you, just some others in Middle and East Tennessee. :roflolk:

Let me tell you why teams in Memphis don't win The state Championships that often, are you listening ? well looking, ok here it goes ( POOR COACHING) !!!! There you have it and I said it. Quality coaches leave the city for a better administration than the Memphis Board of Education. Tim Thompson, Jake Rudolph, Major Wright, Kenny Ingram, Wayne Randall, John Cooley are a few that I will bet the house, savings, and cars on if they were coaching teams like Whitehaven, White Station, Mitchell, Melrose, East, and Fairley.

I hear you and I was just messin' with you. I don't even have a dog in this hunt - I just use that line whenever I can. Like Michael from The Office saying "that's what she said" all the time. Good luck to both teams.

If Henry Co was still in the playoffs mitchell would not have a chance to take the 5a championship but now that we arent in it anymore i do think mitchell will take it good luck to yall down at Mitchell

Soooo, Mitchell can't beat Henry Co, but can beat anyone else....including the team that did beat Henry Co? :thumb:

This thread is anything but boring....! :roflolk:

Patfan, enjoy basketball season and do yourself a favor and forget football. This was (once again) supposed to be HC's year and they couldn't even beat (or truly contend with) a team that got manhandled by Beech. Trust me, it is better this way because any of the 4 teams would treat the Pats much worse than the Wave did. Also, do yourself another favor and don't get too excited in the future when you run the table in that weak division because you will, once again, get sent home when you face a reasonable opponent in the later rounds.

HSK ... just because you said it doesn't make it true. Tim Thompson got ran out of coaching because of the money he accepted from the University of Kentucky's coaching staff that he wasn't allowed to receive, not because he was tired of the Memphis Board of Education. Jake Rudolph I can't speak on becasue he is before my time. All I know about him is that he retired from MUS and I think he won a few state championships in his time ... but I'm not certain. Wayne Randall didn't leave for a better administration either ... he was fired uncerimoniously by the new Principal at East a few years back. John Cooly didn't leave because he was tired of the Memphis Board of Education either ... he RETIRED from the City of Memphis and went to coach in another school system aside from the City of Memphis School system so that he could draw his pension check from the City and at the same time get another paycheck from a different school system like he is now down in MS. Kenny Ingram made it known to anybody who would listen that he wanted to get into college coaching and perhaps the NFL ... and after he was treated so bad by the MELROSE fans after they lost the championship game to Maryville that year ... who could blame him for leaving ... but it wasn't because he he was tired of the Memphis Board of Education, it was because TSU offered him a chance to coach in college.

Is there poor coaching at some schools in the City of Memphis. Yes. Are all of them poor coaches? NO. Are the coaches at Whitehaven and White Station poor coaches? NO.

It's easy to sit at a computer screen and throw stones at these men who help to mold young men into adults. Winning championships takes time to develop. It's not an instant thing and both of those coaches are moving into their prime and they have the programs moving in the right direction.

HSK ... I think you are unrealistically harsh in some areas and you come across as brash and unappoligetic and downright brazen at times. There is one thing about you everybody that is reading my words can probably agree upon ... we all know what you think about a matter.

HSK ... I, like you, think Mitchell has an outstanding team. I think coach Cole is a really good coach. It took him a while to get his team in the position that they in now ... just like it took a while for coach Tim Thompson, and coach Ingram, and others. Why don't you give these other coaches some time to develop as well instead of just painting all of the coaches with one broad brush?

Well ... if you did that ... you wouldn't be the HSK ... now would you?

Have a blessed day my brother.

Well sir, why don't you explain to me the reason that the stronger more athletic teams from Memphis usually lose in the state playoffs or to teams with lesser talent if it is not coaching ? Can we say Mitchell vs Knoxville Catholic last year 3A State Championship Game ?

I am dying to read you response ..

I'm sure there are "good" and "bad" Coaches in Memphis (just like everywhere else).I saw Mitchell play Lawrence Co. and they are one of the most well-coached teams I've seen. They have good talent,They are disciplined snd classy. It could be that Knoxville catholic had a great team!(undefeated) Mitchell may win the championship this year,They may not.Alot of times championships hinge on things over which a coach has no control,(weather,penalties,injuries,...etc.)I will definitley say Memphis coaches are as good as any one elses.GoVols!

Mitchell is good, and that reciever they got is outstanding.

I think its funn how everybody overlooks us here at beech but we havent had a losing in 5 years.

Losing only one game last year and 2 this year with 1 being a fluke with the penalties against Gallatin. The Bucs want this! And when they set their mind to it they are unstoppable..Beech wins a close one against Mitchell.

Beech 22

Mitchell 17

I'll take Beech. Beech has beaten a solid MJ team (whos other only loss came to Oakland by 5) and destroyed a Hendersonville team that beat Riverdale. Beech's only losses were an early game to Smyrna which I think Beech would beat 8 out of 10 tries and to a 7-0 loss to Gallatin in the mud which negated alot of the offense for Beech. Beech is probably the most improved and hottest teams out there right now.

I am from southern middle Tennessee and I am not biased either way. I saw Mitchell play Lawrence County and I was AMAZED at how good Mitchell was offenseivly. I don't see a team in the state that can slow this offense down. If and only IF you can keep Mitchell under 40 points you might have a chance, but if you don't then it is very hard to beat that team. I will be amazed if Mitchell doesn't win the state championship. GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS!!!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
