This game was much closer than the scoreboard indicate. If it weren't for the Dawgs turning the ball over 4 times this could've been a whole different ballgame. But hey, coulda, woulda, shoulda...doesn't change a thing. Alcoa wins another gold ball...

Congrats Tornadoes on another great season and for winning your 6th consecutive gold ball. Nothing but respect from this Bulldawg fan :D

Bulldawgs, there is definitely nothing to hang your heads about. You guys dominated all year long and played your hearts out in this state championship game. I can't wait for the 2010 season to kick off so we can start another great year of trash talking :?

Congrats Bulldogs on aa awesome season..2 deep turnovers allowed Alcoa the win..

Accept the Silver Ball with PURPLE PRIDE !!!.. Hold your heads High !!!1

we are proud of you

There were a few things I carried from this game today :D

#1: Mark Howard is the worst play-by-play announcer in the HISTORY of football. He should not be allowed anywhere near a microphone

#2: Avery Williamson & Jabronski Gilbert are a great duo of linebackers for the Milan defense and both are deserving of all of the mention that they receive HOWEVER after watching this game today I will also say that Nate Robinson & Dee Herbert are definitely worth of being mentioned in the same breath as those guys.

#3: The key to Alcoa's success is not a stud tailback and it's not their athletes but instead IT IS THEIR LINE PLAY IN THE TRENCHES!!!! They flat out G.A.T.A. up front and that is the number one reason for their success IMHO.

#4: Gary Rankin is a great coach and further more he is a class act. His players play the game like it's supposed to be played. I saw time and time again where the Alcoa players would make plays and help the Milan players off the ground once the whistle was blown. That just goes to show the level of sportsmanship they are taught to play the game with.

#5: The streak of state championships is now at 6 in a row and 11 overall and I for one do not see it ending anytime soon. Alcoa returns a great core of players to the field next season and they'll without question be the unanimous choice to take home the state title in 2010.

Congrats to Milan and their 26 seniors on outstanding seasons and careers. The last 2 years have definitely seen plenty of success for you guys and the only word to describe the way you played football is WINNERS!!!! I definitely believe that Milan is the 2nd of 3rd best team in the entire state of Tennessee following today's game but it's just hard to bring home the gold when you are in the same class as the top dog in the state (and one of the best teams across the nation).

Excellent post and great acronym :D Oh yeah I know we will hear about the two turnovers. However they are a part of the game, you just want to be on the other side of them and be able to capitalize on them. Even without the two turnovers Alcoa still brings home the Gold. Great game Milan...Congratulations F5 you are indeed the best as well as the beast :?

Congrats to Alcoa for a dominant win. Very good line play won this game. They knew what Alcoa was gonna do, stacked the box and still pounded the rock.

Milan...congrats on the silver. good team.

Now please stop with the turnover business...That didnt fly with last week vs. York. yall kept saying "we adjusted and please give our defense its props." Well just give Alcoa their props. One long pass play in the first quarter and the drive to begin the 2nd half was all Milan could muster.

Well, it looks like one of my son's teammates has decided to use my account on here and make me look like an idiot. lol The real football"mom" gave up coacht after congratulating Alcoa on their win against Loudon at the 3rd round. I have better punctuation and grammar than has been shown over the last few posts, and by the way, I do not drink wine! lol

Congrats Tornados I knew you would bring another gold ball home to D4! :thumb:

This game was not dominated by either team whatsoever. Milan did turn the ball over 4 times, and against a team like Alcoa you have to play a perfect game. I do believe if 3 of those turnovers never happened things could've went a little different than they did. However, as I said in a previous post, coulda, woulda, shoulda doesn't get you anywhere. I will say that Milan held their own against the mighty F5 today and I'm very impressed. And as stated before, congratulations to Alcoa on the win today. Hopefully these 2 teams can play for a 3rd straight year in 2010 :thumb:

I was for Milan bigtime but just a couple observations from someone without Bulldog shades on....

You guys (Milan) were a QB and a couple of big linemen away from a real special club...It looked to me like Alcoa was just more athletic in that they looked stronger....I know Milan hits the weight room hard but your guys looked skinny, excluding Gilbert and Williamson and a couple more....Alcoa's players are what the younguns call "swole" at almost every position....Looks to me like there needs to be a renewed dedication to the weight room....I never thought this afternoon that Alcoa was ever threatened....I know they scored their two TD's on really short drives in the first half but even if Alcoa had only scored one TD all night they didn't seem threatened...

Congrats to the Bulldogs...Ya'll are the stuff over here in West Tn but somehow, someway ya'll gonna have to step it up a couple levels to knock off Alcoa....They are just that much better...That's 49-14 in favor of Alcoa in the games ya'll have played the last two years....

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
